it actually is a wide path we normally take, not very deep, we go back and follow the creek to the right for a while. its mostly my one neighbors property, he owns all the land back there pretty much. At least where the big creek is and all.
yeah man :) i'm definitely really lucky to live here. The creek is pretty perfect, the water isn't too high most of the time, but its really wide so its more fun.
haha, nah, and believe me, you don't want one of mine :) but for probably 400 bucks you can find a bolens on ebay, or craigs list near you that would be in way better shape, then one of mine.
it all kind of varies. i try to get them for free, and alot of them are. if not free i like to pay 50 bucks for them. about the most i pay is 150 for one that works. usually the free, and 50 dollar ones haven't ran in a few years.
ah man, yeah, you don't really want them. they can't do these kinds of things so well. i never get any off craigs list. i've looked at a few. the best thing to do, is drive around, and look in peoples yards near sheds and stuff, and some times you'll see tractor thats been sitting for several years, go knock on the door, and ask the people if they want to get rid of them. local trade papers have them sometimes too :) ebay works! :) and its usually pay cash when you pick up
haha, you know what, i think it was a john deere hat. :) yeah, i want a Bolens hat too. Seriously...
The bolens guy i work for every once in a while has a bolens hat, but its a newer one, with the crappy 80's logo, to go with the crappy 80's bolens.. junk..
i should see if i can get a hat made. or maybe an ebay search!
Yeah I want a bolens husky hat with the orange and white logo of the guy crossing his arms and wearing overalls.....you know the logo on the front of a lot of bolenses......??? but yeah maybe ebay i've seen bolens stickers there before,....
That would be an awesome find. The husky guy. :) That guy was around before there were even ride-on bolens. just walk behinds. then in the begining of the 70's they changed it to a husky dog... i would not mess with that guy. he seems pretty intimidating. :)
Every great once in a while we do, but its pretty rare. thats what the farmer uses, so we kinda try to keep a low key with that. but some times, if its fun enough you just can't really help it you know? :)
why would you intentionally run it low on oil? i have a 1971 jd 112. i have never driven it through the creek, but i put it through its paces. havent broken anything seriously. one tough ass machine. also, if it breaks i will fix it. i used to have a 61 bolens ride-a-matic. i rebuilt the kohler k161 but then the garage collapsed on it. bolens used to make a good tractor, not anymore. they are pure shit/mtd.
well, it wasn't exactly intentionally. i don't know if you saw the first half of the video or not, but it flipped upside down, and the oil came out. then it took about 20 minutes to get it started again, because of a dead battery, and when we finally got back to the house, we forgot about the oil. then just kept driving it. accidental. yeah, the next day i put another wisconsin TR-10D engine on it. so it was up and running again in less then 15 hours probably. i'd like to rebuild them.
cool as long as you dont do this to kill them, as long as you fix them. hopefully you haven't junked any. these old garden tractors are actually going to be rare someday, if they arent already. i hate to see one trashed. the are an example of some of finest products this country used to produce. now almost everything made is shit. these are going to be the last of the great machines. the have a ton of character and loads of class.
Super sweet! Thats a pretty bad ratio- starting with seven and ending with two-lol! Hey fun is what counts tho. I had nearly seized an engine up, i used PB blaster - sprayed it for 3 days into the combustion chamber, worked the motor by hand and then after the 3rd day i tried starting it- it worked! At the moment i few 'beaters' ( no decks/in the process of modifying)- lawntractor purists would fall over seeing y thrash them classics- then again they dont own em-LOL! Very cool dude!
Yeah, its wasn't the easiest day for the tractors. but i have 6 of them going again so its not to bad. thats a good idea, i just happen to have bought a can of PB today, so maybe i'll try that out on the rust 850's engine. i can move it with big ass channel locks. but not by hand. yeah, i be these vids would piss some people off. but god this stuff is great! and these are really great at it! can't wait till it goes down again!
I took my 11hp briggs dynamark, my 85 12HP teccy craftsman, my 80's 12HP dynamark and my lil 70 5hp toro thru the muck back home years ago- couldnt believe how easy they plowed thru the stuff ( cept when they got in so deep and got high centered)- id thrash all those pretty good, then id have to come home and use the garden hose outside to clean all the mud off, but like y sed- man it sure is fun to go muddin and have a great time.
well, those 4 bolens broke saturday, and today i had 3 of them fixed. so the list is down by one. but i'm working on that. i can turn the seized engine with a big wrench. hopefully i can return it to working order.
well good and you might want to try WD-40 for the engine spray a whole bunch down the spark plug hole and it should turn easier thats what i did and it worked.
the first one that seized i think might unseize, but the 1000 is probably done. i'm sure its rebuildable though. we deffinatly should have added oil after the roll over. the first seize up was from the front end of the tractor being up on this hill for about a miniute at high RPM's, and because of the angle, the oil was all in the back of the crank case, so it wasn't splash lubricating the parts, but i think that ones save able. it sucks too, because that one ran perfect, with POWER!
Thats for sure!
Is all that your property?. It seems that it goes wide into the forrest.
