my reasoning behind saying that is the glamourization of the "middle eastern yodel" (for a lack of a better term, sorry) by such people as jerry bruckheimer and other pop media in america. any run-of-the-mill midwestern, young, ignorant, christian, youthgroup member would identify that as muslim. nothin against christianity, cuz i am one, but i also have had an overview of Islam, Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and indiginous religion, and the different sects pertaining to each of those religions.
