at 3:02, never realized the guitar is coming from each headphone separately. listen to it with one headphone in and it just blows you away musically, the notes fit like puzzle pieces
Been thinking lately that YHF might be the Last Great Rock Album Ever. I remember listening to this CD on headphones the first night I got it, every song building on the one before, and climaxing with Poor Places. Just an explosion of emotions and beauty through layer upon layer of sound. And then Reservations was like the epilogue to the story. Goddamn masterpiece, this is.
definitely my favorite wilco song! i dont know what it is about it but i makes me feel so good, yet a longing for something. I think of autumn when the leaves are turning, and im sitting in my friends car, high, thinking of this girl i really like. Im in tears remembering this, but as sad as it was, god its beautiful.

Seems to be about lacking and longing, completely aware of it, but no solutions. His father's jaw was broken, wrapped too tight leaving him unable to voice expression or communicate. Later he realizes he suffers from similar dispair. Except he's able to talk/sing, but with his heart in ice (numb, passionless). He desires love, but is unable to express it as his voice climbs walls. He lives in a poor place just like his father. Poor as in lacking and it's too hot to go outside and find answers.
man wilco is such a sweet band... i couldnt put my finger on it until now what it was that gave them their unique quality. its the backround ambience/sounds or whatever... just make it so badass
yeah, man. YHF is so great because theres SO MUCH SOUND, but there isn't a single sound on the entire album that doesn't fit perfectly into it's song.
If you like Wilco, we're friends.

The ending reminds me of PF Echos, somewhere at the end of part one. Anyone see it?

@FatmanCaufield It's a one time pad (a.k.a. a secret transmisson to spies.) they got in trouble for having it on the song.

this song is about being homeless, and all the thoughts that run through your head when you spend a night alone, walking forever
