Ray Manzarek seems like the best guy ever! 1) Talented organist 2) Smart 3) Really seems nice 4) Good story teller! 5) Lookin' good for a man his age.... I want him to be my granddad!
check out another interview with Ray on this podcast. He talk about the latest album he made, Atonal Head with a producer named Bal. He also shares some cool stories about The Doors.

The Doors are saying that Florida Governor Charlie Crist is c o n s i d e r i ng pardoning Jim Morrison, not that they have (or will!). Please feel free to call the Governor's legal department at 850 / 488-3494
and tell them NOT to pardon Jim Morrison because he is still alive. This seems like a publicity attempt at the expense of the Florida State Government and the Internal Revenue Service by a DOORS's fan club and if you love our country you should NOT support this action.
Lighten up ladies...Make love not war...damn...Ray is 1/4 of a really kick ass band, let the man do and say what ever he wants, he has earned that respect from any music lover.
the guy is a dick... these big time musicians look at real artists like Kruder & Dorfmeister ans say: "oh, I love them, great remixers, I got a song called "Riders blah blah blah" that would sound awesome if remixed by them." - idiots, they think they are sooo hot...
Yeah, well your post was just about as pompous as what Ray said. Is it that you disagree that Riders of the Storm wouldn't be a good song for Kruder and Dorfmeister to remix, because if so I'd like to know your reasons why. IMYO it wouldn't be a pretty compatable match when you listen to the atmosphere of "ROTS" and K&D's stuff.
It's not that. The thing that got me was his attitude towards K&D... some people think they can buy absolutely everything with money. If you knew K&D and their MO you'd know they have always selected with who to work and not the other way around... plus K&D don't do remixes anymore, they have their own original projects.
Well you are right that I don't know K&D or their MO, because I'm really only a casual fan, unlike yourself(or so it would seem). I honestly don't find their stuff all that mind blowing if you consider all types of music as a whole picture., but they are definately innovators within their own genre though, I will say that. And maybe they don't do remixes NOW(or they don't publicly distribute any of their remixes atleast), but I'm pretty positive they did in 2001 when this interview was done.
I kind of have to agree that Ray sounds a little full of himself and The Doors. In the other interviews he talks about Jim as real high and mighty and stuff, which is like... I dunno, I love The Doors, but he seems almost boastful.
well, actually he is! He is great and so are the doors. Hey, did you ever listen to Light My Fire? I think you wouldn't criticise what he says or the way he acts if you knew what the doors really mean to the history of music!
whats all that shit in the back.
