I want to be a member of the Carl family. This man is a G-dfather to all actors who pray for "funny bones" and aspire to make people laugh with their bellies and cry with their hearts.
Thank you so much for posting this. George was a fantastic performer and being in the business myself, it was a rare treat to see "home movies" of one of my comic heroes. I only wish it was longer. Thanks again.
gracias por publicar esto es un ejemplo para todos nosotros los payasos!!!! y mis hijos tambien vieron esto a forma de ejemplo!!! sinceramente gracias!!!!
Truly one of the greatest comic performers and wonderful to see how he trained and shared with family. This ought to be an inspiration for physical comedians and circus students across the globe. Thanks for posting this, a rare insight...
I LOVE this footage! What a crazy man... and what a crazy life he led. I'm his granddaughter (George Carl Jr. is my dad.) Watching this brings tears to my eyes... what a family we hail from! Thanks for sharing this!
I cast George Carl in film I made called Funny Bones. I had seen him in 1982 at The Crazy Horse Club in Paris and made a mental note that I had to work with him. He was brilliant in the film, suffering from early Alzheimers but brilliant. The actor/comedian who played his brother, Freddie Davies, looked after him so well, guided him through. To George and to Freddie I shall be eternally grateful. Peter Chelsom.
Yes a really great film. With so many great people in it spanning the generations from Gerry Lewis through to Lee Evans via George and Freddie with so many great cameos from George Kahn in the circus ring, Leslie Carron and Oliver Reid to all the fantastic 'auditionees'. Oliver Platt carried off the difficult role for any actor with pride; the unfunny comedian. Just a pity we don't see it more on the box. One of my all time favorites. Thanks.
One day my Dad showed me a video of this brilliant man and my life was forever changed. He is STILL a great inspiration. He remains one of the all time greatest performers!
I had the priviledge of photographing him in my studio during one of his visits to NY..We had such a great time. He made me laugh so hard i had trouble taking the shot..Hysterically funny man..
I was in Vegas working on an IBm trade show and the cast decided to take in one of the shows. IT was the Titanic. A huge ship had been built on stage and it a spectacle. George followed that and stole the show..What a magnificent performers. Thanks for the inside look at him off stage..
WOW. Today, there is nobody, nobody who has a talent like George Carl was blessed with. He and his kind are gone. Sadly, we will never see their talent again. Today we have American Idol's, Everyone can sing or act. Today's talent is just garbage!!!
My parents worked with George alot in the 50s doing fair dates. I worked with him in 93 in Germany. I have some real good off stage footage of him clowning aroung and telling jokes. He was one of a kind !
Priceless footage! Can't thank you enough for sharing that with us. I worked with George on a New Vaudevillians TV Special one time and everyone knew they were in the presence of greatness. There will never be another like him.
I saw George Carl when I attended a taping of"The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson back in the early 80's, and I never forgot how much I laughed and was amazed. Today I was telling a buddy about him, and on the spot did a YouTube search. Wow. Youtube is great, and your Uncle was incredible. You must be very proud. Oh, one more thing- now my friend is a fan- it knocked him out.
Thank you for the video! George vas in Denmark (TIVOLI garden) and we was much together in this time. Maybe you can contact me
