  • Come on Slash, yeah, you wanted to do something for the fans....like overcharge the shit out of them for another slash model. Not to mention that the original guitar wasn't even a real Gibson. Fuck off man.

  • the Gibson version has a really, unauthentic and different pattern on the flame maple, sometimes it sucks so bad it even looks painted

  • @Disco234jockey not really, its just that Slash's original has faded and the characteristic of the finish has lightened, the way the AFD guitars look is what the Original one did in 88, go back and watch GNR videos of 88 and you can see that it looks like the AFD guitars look like

  • has this guitar ever been a serial product of gibson bcause i heard that the rea afd "gibson" was made by a ghostbuilder, not gibson theirselves

  • @SkaterSTF that would be 100% correct.

  • @theruley ah ok so why are they producing it like it had been one x)

  • Did his copy have a Gibson neck, or was it faked, or did Gibson brand it after they signed him?

  • @SmyganPro His copy was completely hand made, no Gibson parts were used. It was never branded Gibson. I don't know what Gibson made for him, a Historic seems most likely.

  • @MrUltraworld so Gibson either changed the neck or modified the head-stock on the "original" that's in this video.

  • @SmyganPro I don't think that's the Derrig made guitar. Maybe he had a Les Paul at the time. I really don't know

  • @SmyganPro No, it was a replica, it had Gibson on the headstock. Lots of people made Gibson replicas in the 80's because Gibson quality was POOR, the prices were insane and they didn't do reissues. Everyone wanted a 59 Les Paul, Gibson wouldn't make them so people consulted private builders. It's a well known fact that the AFD guitar was a Chris Derrig replica. Slash has said so many times. :)

  • @Nickpatient Hey! I've got an early 80's Gibson! I wouldn't say it's POOR.

  • @SmyganPro Not all of them, it's like nowadays. They're very hit and miss.

  • yes jimi hendrix is epic

  • 8 people don't know how to play guitar.

  • Would it hurt them to tell the truth? The Guitar was made by Chris Derrig (now deceased). He made approx. 25 to 35 '59 Les Paul copies that were highly regarded. I had the opportunity to inspect one about 20 years ago. This particular guitar was far superior to any other replica I have ever seen.

  • @MrUltraworld Yeah, which one was the MAX replica he had?

  • @JimmyPage968 i'm not too sure about Slash's particular guitars. but I have held a Derrig made '59 replica & it was tremendous. The attention to detail was amazing, it was loaded w/ PAF's from ES-335 & it sounded amazing.

  • @MrUltraworld

    Yup.

  • Poor Slash. Forced to be a corporate whore. That kinda sucks, but you gotta pay the bills, I suppose. Unlike Dave Mustaine, who's just a whore, period.

  • I love slash but his appetite guitar was a 59 replica made by a independent luthier and was purchaced in a swap shop by their manager at the time..he had called gibson looking for guitars at that time and they wouldnt give him anything.he didnt have any money so they bought the replica which was played through a little modded marshall studio amp..I heard they were going to make a replica of the replica..go figure, snobby gibson....

  • is the original on the left or right?

  • Is there a picture of this "Home-made" copy of a gibson? The original that slash used?

  • @gibsontshirt its on the stand they show it alot

  • @BFFAngelFaith

damn right he is, you cant even spell it right xD lmao

  • Dammit slash is my hero!!!!

  • @BFFAngelFaith That is why he's pro dude...

  • which one is the original? the first or the second one?

  • His first guitar was gibson copy with alnico 2 pro's, thats where he discovered those pickups.

  • sick as guitar played it yesterday at guitar center loved it

  • Looks like Gibson made a life size Slash reissue aswell cuz this guy doesn't sound anywhere near the Slash from the 'Appetite' era ....

  • @HOOKSnKISSES Your such a frigging idiot.

  • @alexmccoy11 And you my friend clearly didn't get the sarcasm in my comment. I'd explain it but it seems my words are lost on you. I'm sorry.

  • It was good listening to him speak about the AFD Les Paul.

  • Id take this over the zakk wylde custom anyday,]

  • This is an awesome guitar~

  • 2-colored pickups, I always like those :)

  • @beefcake0354 yeah they're awesome

  • I would love one of those guitars!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • They're all the same, same, and the same!

    make something different!

put a floyd rose, different combination of the wood ect!

getting sick of all these overprice guitars.

  • @darren0512341 Floyd Rose... Les Paul Axcess?

  • @darren0512341 Floyd rose on a les paul ?? that's a true heresy mate, but you're right of beein' sick of those overpriced guitars

  • @coltsuperocean10 Shut Up

  • @cytyson1 ...and whats your fucking problem knobhead? When did you become the nazi police of youtube eh?

  • @coltsuperocean10 my problem is tht ur on this video and start avin a go for no reason, if u don't like, dont watch the video

and ur callin me the 'nazi police of youtube' wen ur the one avin a go at slash for no reason. wat did he ever do to u?

the top hat is slash's image, and he's the one wit millions of dollers.

wat the hell has this got to do wit nazi's? wat has a video about an (AMAZING) guitarist who bacame famous in the 80's got to do wit a racist german party from the 30's and 40's.

  • @coltsuperocean10 and btw he's not 39, he's 45. do ur research if ur gunna insult som1.

    and u called him stupid.

  • I played the original, the 80's one. :)

  • @ErosaScuderia G'day mate, have you compared a Gibson AFD to the Derrig? If so, how do they compare? Have Gibson come close at least with the AFD? Cheers.

  • The feel on the Gibson was amazing. It's expensive, though. $6,500 at Guitar Center if you want the VOS version.

  • @ErosaScuderia The AFD guitars are consistently the lighest non-weight relieved Les Paul Standards I've seen - I've seen 6 of these so far between 8.0lb to 8.3lb. So it sounds like Gibson have at least respected the weight characteristic of Slash's Derrig and given the AFD are not weight relieved Gibson must be using quite old woods which may explain the additional cost over a production 59 Ri. But compared to the cost of a genuine Derrig, the AFD may be a good substitute. Don't know for sure.

  • jack white inspires him nice :)

  • @midget6mafia and where's ur signuture guitar?

  • Comment removed

  • What was the name of the video where Slash said he doesn't use the afd guitar during recording?

  • @yankees53144 I think it was You could be mine. He used a BC Rich Mockingbird. Correct me if I am wrong.

  • Slash would sell you the SOCKS he wore while recording "Appetite For Destruction" if he could!!..WOW..

  • @dgenerated Those in "the know"..Also know..He never even PLAYED a Les paul on Appetite!..

  • @dgenerated wait he played a handmade 'fake' lp with a marshall didnt he???? i read the bio

  • @pooperman18 YES..I forget who made it..He even mentions it on a video on utube!..His original Les Paul was NOT a Gibson!..It was a handmade LP copy mad buy a guy in Cali!..It's the truth!

  • @pooperman18 correct it was a reissue and it was fake =P

  • His hat is heavy.

  • This kick ass so does he.

  • my god ... SLASH YOU ARE MY GOD

  • OOOOOMMMMMMMGGGGG ive been wanting a guitar simalar to this one for years and years. im buying one!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The original Appetite "les paul" was NOT a gibson people. He bought that guitar from a secondhand shop. It was a home-made copy of a gibson. Its all written... in ink...... in his book

  • @fucia11 True. Anyone else see the irony here? First guitar was a Gibson copy. Now this guitar is a copy of a Gibson copy, hahaha

Still, I bet it plays really nice.

  • @DaemoniumCC and the epiphone is a copy of the gibson model basically.

  • @DaemoniumCC and the epiphone model is a copy of a copy of a gibson copy guitar looool :D

  • @DaemoniumCC lesson to be learnt here? if you wanna sound like slash, buy a second hand gibson copy...? mind blown

  • @fucia11 i read it too. it was made by an old guy named Chris Derrig. ur completly right. i think the neck PU was the Gibson and the bridge PU was i think SD :D

    funny stuff.

  • @fucia11

    you are nearly right...

    nearly.

  • @fucia11 true but he didnt buy it , his manager did..and it was a hand made replica...so gibson made a replica of a replica

  • @fucia11 well.. i have the book, it says it was a copy gibson..

  • @SmashToonsTv no shit it was a copy lol i said it was.. its not a real gibson i dont understand your argument because i said in my comment that it was a copy gibson

  • @fucia11 oh, AND in this vid., besides him is the original one(on the left) and the new signiture one(on the right).. they both have gibson on the head.. -.-

  • @fucia11 It wasn´t from a second hand shop ,it was made by a experienced luthier

  • @Hsals96 oh jeez like it makes a difference... most people when they here secondhand shop understand its not the real deal... therefore somebody built the copy... lets use our brains a littl bit.

  • @fucia11 actualy was an epiphone

  • @MYEYESONECONOMY lol go read his book.! you know nothing about this guy

  • @fucia11 it seem that you are right, my bad, everytime i hear "gibson copy" i automaticly think epiphone ;)

  • @MYEYESONECONOMY yeah thats a lot of peoples first assumption. oh well no biggy :)

  • @fucia11 lol, this is rare, a polite discussion on the internets

  • @MYEYESONECONOMY pretty much

  • @fucia11 heey you richt it is a Epiphone Les paul

  • @fucia11 funny thing he didnt even buy it. his manager got it for him because he couldnt find a guitar he liked tone wise. he was also trying to stay away from les pauls but he ended up being the face for the les paul for alot of people

  • @darthhull85 that's so bullshit. he loves les pauls man because all his heros played les pauls. i read that in his book.

  • @fucia11 No . .. really?? All the slash's fans already knew it . .. Thanks anyway

  • @boxerkid13 i think ur forgetting about all those people who like slash just because he's on guitar hero.. so yeah.. not all people knew that.

  • @GILMOURED1 Yes, and those people came to this video because they are fans, and a real fan have to know about that :D

  • Thank god he quit smoking good for you brother ! Im right behind ya !!

  • Nooo his original was called the "hunterburst" which in fact... wasn't a Gibson at all!!!

So Gibson are making a copy of a copy :P

  • @21stCenturyNimrod flame top

  • @21stCenturyNimrod How do you know that the original wasn't a Gibson? D:

  • does slash play with this les paul's model?

  • @gibsoniano90 what he always did was just take a les paul and put new pickups new machine heads and all and all just put all he wanted into it....so weather he litterally uses one that has his name on it isnt for sure but there copies of the ones he uses

  • is the original shown?

  • Are there any reviews on the Epiphone one? It seems really awesome and thinking about getting one myself.

  • they have officially released an epiphone version +_+

  • @2003jackb ...shit

  • was slash using this guitar in the music video of sweet child?????

  • @iSlash96 no.

  • @iSlash96 No man, i think it was an original(stock) gibson les paul standard.

  • @RobotFollower some guys say that it was the Chris ( dont know the ast name) Gibson Flame-top replica

  • @RobotFollower you are so dumb sorry its blatantly obvious it wasnt a Gibson

  • @fucia11 You call me dumb? You don't even know what guitar i was refering to. Besides your stupid reply proves that you're the dumb one here. Why? Cause we were talking about the sweet child o mine video and slash used a Gibson les paul in it you moron! Think before you comment...

  • @RobotFollower yeah misread it.. dont call me dumb i know way more about the guitar/rock scene then you will ever know dont call me the dumb one pal

  • @fucia11 You know more about the guitar/rock scene than i will ever know? RIGHT..... whatever man, have fun giving too much credit to yourself. Anyway, you're a good guitarist no doubt. And don't mean to be rude but your purple rain solo sounds like crap. I mean the playing is good but the tone... kinda sucks.

    -Christian Zodkfield.

  • @RobotFollower yeah lol that was a pretty shitty camera. that video itself was taken a few years ago i just found them and uploaded them in the last 6 months or so... thanks for the comments. but yeah i really do know a lot about rock believe me i dont think you give me enough credit. i study music history in college and i am focusing on rock to someday become an analyist/historian.. i really do know my stuff.

  • @fucia11 Good for you! Same thing here, history and stuff. However, no colleges and bullshit for me. Besides i already know almost everything about rock/metal etc.

I've been playing guitar for about 22 years now, or more. Anyways keep rocking mate.

    -Christian Z.

  • Gibson Slash Appetite for Destruction Les Paul Electric Guitar, garanta a sua na Gang Music

  • lack of money?

buy an epi standard plus top in trans amber

change the pickups to alnico 2's in zebra

    take the pickguard off

  • Kind of a hoot seeing as the guitar that Slash played on the album AFD was not made by Gibson. You can read the history of the guitar that was used on the album at Ed Roman guitars / rants / ghost.

Many of Slash's 'Les Pauls' were made by ghost builders, ironic seeing as Slash almost single handedly saved Gibson from going under with guitars that were not built by them!

  • @Patriot1962 What do you mean.. I thought Slash was handed a Gibson Les Paul 1959 Standard from his manager during the AFD sessions because he had a Les Paul but it did not have the sound that he wanted..

  • does slash make his guitars?

  • i thought gibson was against copies o.o

  • So, basically, it sounds like he has heard some guys talk about guitars before, and, he doesn't really know what he's talking about. Love you, buddy, but, shut-up and play yer guitar

  • @duh464 - You may wanna research your facts. In the 80s a number of luthiers were making replica 59 Les Pauls, right down to the logos, because what Gibson puts out is often sub-par. Slash's guitars were built by the now deceased Chris Derrig. A quick Google will turn up an interview with Slash on SlashsWorld, with details of the guitar straight from the player.

  • a tuno matic uh.... uh.... um...

  • Is it limited, or is it like Zakk Wylde's Les Paul?

  • @Vitaum010 limited. they're all sold out now. I tihnk they made about 50? or was it 5? I can't remember.

  • @WheresMySpaceButton tehy are not sold out in Europe, i still can find the guitar.

  • he used a '59 les paul sunburst for the album right?

  • @MrR00nscape i think your right.

  • i want tht thing so baadddd!!!!

  • I have a USA Fender Strat Plus! a Custom Epiphone Les Paul with Seymour Duncand and a 1977 USA gibson marauder. I use the marauder live most of the time as it has a unique sound! something between? a les Paul and Telecaster?? if thats how you can discribe the sound? it is an oddball guitar but I love it

  • I do own a 1977 gibson marauder :) can't afford a Gibson USA Les Paul :) but I do have a custom Epiphone with all the crap ripped out! and replaced with quailty stuff! including Seymour Duncans :)

  • @Fender1976uk so u have a marauder from the original run?

  • Its a 1977 Marauder, I don't think they ever re-issued them? they were made somewhere around 1975 to 1981?? not sure?

  • They were made 1974 to 1979

  • @duh464 I'm not trying to piss anyone off but the original WAS a copy. Look it up. Also, saying Gibson's are the best guitars is 100% subjective. Hendrix said strats were the best. So what can you say about that. I like les pauls, but I rather own a strat for it's versatility. Also, Slash basically uses D pentatonic. He's not bad, but a little confined. So don't hate on people because you're hotheaded.

  • Slash You Da Man.

  • does anyone own one of these

  • Gibson must think guitar players are all morons. The only people who will want this are Slash fans and anyone who takes even a passing interest in his gear knows that the guitar used on Appetite was a Les Paul copy. I understand that luthiers make copies or homages to great guitars, but there's no way in fuck that the guy who made Slash's original would have inlaid the Gibson logo and Les Paul moniker. I'd love to do some research and find pictures of the ACTUAL guitar used and see it.

  • @TUUK2006 Dude, it's a fucking tribute to Slash, it's not a new guitar in the 'Les Paul' series, but a tribute..

  • @TUUK2006 ur a mucking moron he used a gibson les paul

  • The effort was for than fans? A limited edition £2000 guitar is for "the kids"? Lost touch with reality much, Slash?

  • @TUUK2006 ur a fucking moron man your stupid... plus look up all the guitars! gibsons are all 1000-100000dollars..... gibsons are the best guitars out there... so dude just dont talk shit about lash because he is way the fuck better than u

  • Yeah, I love Slash, but this is all bullshit and just a huge sales promotion. Even in his book he says that the guitar that he used for the Appetite-sessions was a hand-built Les Paul COPY that was made by some guy in Cali (or wherever). He hardly had shit for gear at the time, and there's no way he had an actual Les Paul on-hand (if you read about his struggles with addiction, this'll make a little more sense). Like somebody else commented already, this is just pure "milking it".

  • thats a beautiful guitar

  • I got to try out one of these Les Pauls when I was in New York, they kick ass! Awesome tone, neck, and they look great! If ya love rock and roll, I suggest the Appetite Les Paul!

  • TURN ON THE LIGHTS!

  • he should have included the thinned neck in his earlier signature models... even if they werent on the original appetite model.

  • Is anyone else tired of Slash Les Pauls and Dimebag guitars coming out every goddamn week? I love the first GnR record but dude...give it a rest man, and work on your damn band instead of your guitar models.

  • great guitarist!

    great attention whore

  • whats the difference??

    which one is the original??

  • I hope my Gibson les paulappetite guitar turns out like slash's appetite!

  • one word: EPIC

  • wow wow lol ass hole

  • Love slash, love his tone, have his signature model in tobacco sunburst. been playing since '84. Me and my late friend had an opportunity to purchase a slash signed/played LP in '92 at a charity auction. The guitar went for just under 2500. I would have paid more, but i was on a student income. Too this day, I have been kicking myself. I do not know what this guitar costs, but i would have loved a slash adjusted LP for myself. But you know what? Make the tone, don't buy it. Sorry Slash.

  • @warwillier make the tone, don't buy the tone. play, adjust, reinvent. live, learn.

  • wow ILY slash ..

    keep the music high

  • slash is the best in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Okay, so if that orginal Les paul is not a gibson, what is it?

  • @skelton1089 It is a handmade replica made by Chris Derrig. It's a copy of a '59 Les Standard with Seymour Duncan Alnico pro 2 Pu's.

  • @skelton1089 It's a gibson... Click at the link in the description and you'll find it and theyre homepage;)

  • @robban97swe

No like I ment the orignal les paul he recorded with was a copy lol, not the new one haha

  • @skelton1089 oohh I see... xD

    Sry:D

  • If you believe or not ... Slash was using Epiphone Joe Perry Boneyard in original record appetite for destruction ...

  • @tonko94 No was not. It's common knowledge it was a les paul replica. Even Slash himself has said so. Unless I'm hugely mistaken, the Boneyard wasn't even around back then.

  • 5:58 wtf was that? watgtgtgt ...

    BTW amazing guitar.

  • it wasnt even a gibson was it slash mate???? lol

  • very nice guitar

  • EL MAESTRO SLASH FOREVER

  • @gersonhr2310 yea mexicans know slash is beast

  • @secanesam soy PERUANO .yea slash FOREVER.
