to those of you who say the OBC cast is the best and no one can replace them... it's true they can't be replaced because they are the original, but to say that a show can't go on without the original cast kills dreams and kills the ideals Johnathan Larson had. he wanted the world to know you must live every day as your last and if you kill the show, you kill not only Johnathan's dream, but every actor/actress who has played or will play these parts, so please think about them next time you hate.

@moiraghblue I'm sorry, but there are soooo many talented people who have performed in Rent and been incredible. Sure, you may like the OBC best, but there is no reason why nobody else should have the opportunity to play these characters and spread the messages of this musical.
I think the only reason people really love the original cast is cuz the cast is still alive and people remember going to the shows and what not. 50+ years from now, the OBC won't matter much. I mean, think about it. I'm sure those who watched all those Shakespeare plays and really popular broadway shows preferred the original cast members to others, but as time went on, that didn't matter anymore.

I stopped by the NYTW where it all started, and it's hard not to want to hear more about how the show developed, how all these actors met, how they interacted with Jonathan, all those blizzards and lunches and rehearsals. Maybe it's too soon for that.

I really hate it when people compare it to the movie, which is an entirely different media. This is live, when you're there, the intensity is real. The movie is emotionally wonderful too, but to BE THERE WITH THE PASSION, that is the real experience.

God he is INCREDIBLE. The perfect Roger. I know there are other good Roger's out there. But nothing will ever top this in my opinion. Except maybe Jonathan larson singing it, cause I cry listening to that. God. Just amazing.
I like watching it here, knowing that the choreography he uses (which was used all the way through the last Broadway show) was done because they had his lyrics taped on the floor so he needed to always get back to them ... couldn't remember all the lyrics :-)
Saw him and Anthony today in Toronto and it is amazing how his voice has matured a bit more but still sounds perfect! I was almost in tears when he opened his mouth to sing one song glory, so powerful!
Its a little funny while casting Adam the one fault thet found with him was that when he sang he closed his eyes, and you can see a little of that here, it doesnt matter though, absloutely perfect song.
@inticlark agreed, personally, I think singing with your eyes closed produces more emotion, or so that's what the actor thinks... and seeing as how this performance kicks major musical theatre ass, the fact that he closes his eyes isn't an issue. so I completely agree.
