I'm new to DT. The musicianship is stellar.I'm a BIG Rush fan,Dream Theater has a heavier edge to their sound. I'm very impressed with them. They basically said if you leave you're not coming back and he said fine. It's fitting though since Portnoy was The Rev's all time favorite drummer.

@craney85 actually he's just their touring drummer, neither himself nor Avenged Sevenfold have stated that mike will become a full time member of the band, though he has committed to touring with them in support of Nightmare. After they finish the touring cycle for that album, then we'll see if he wants to join them or not. I doubt it though, he's got a project coming up with Neal Morse so i think he'll be working on that.

@54MProductions wat happened was they said the way portnoy & dream theater were actig was to out in the media and causing alot of unwanted attention towards a7x cuz it had nuthing to do wit them so they just didnt renew his contract.they didnt fire him.they just went along with the original contract which was to play till the end of 2010.so they basically just let him go,if portnoy didnt put himself too out there wit the media on quiting dream theater he wouldve stayed.
