  • @epicfantasy How much did your anvil cost?

  • @epicfantasy How many lbs is your anvil?100?

  • you sound exactly like peter griffin... only less stupid

  • @gwiguig Quagmire? Is that you?

  • @epicfantasy could you forge Aragorn's sword from Lord of the rings. The sword he gets from Elrond.

  • @300spartanswin That is alot of work to be done without a Power hammer these days, It could take eight hours, possibly more just to form it based on what metal he uses.

  • @Snado Hmmm.Well,it's a bit of a challenge but I just want to see if someone can do it.Should be interesting and challenging at the same time.

  • @300spartanswin Send 'em a PM and see what they say. Y'may get lucky. Myself, I'd say it'd be great fun once the hours of worry and cussing paid off with a successufl final quench that didn't result in a shattered blade.

  • help!!

when i upset the metal i always gets those nasty little edges to flip over.

    how could i prevent that?

  • @janvoslos Then stop hitting too hard.

Or else try lay it down and hit it, just don't make it wide again..

  • were can you get an anvil

  • how did you learn?

  • @TheTanker2010 Could ask a repair shop if they'd give you scrap metal.

  • any suggestions on were to get the metal?

  • geez people. get a chunk of railroad track, fix it to a stump, and rig a blower into your BBQ grill. thats how you start (tool wise). smithing is AWSOME! but you have to learn hammer AND fire control. "anything you can do with playdoh (steel), your hand(hammer) and a table top(anvil)...you can do with hot steel". its fun, but experience is needed before you start thinking "swords"

  • @aidan456456 dunno. I would imagine that as long as the ventilation is adequate you would be ok. But it is very important. Coal gives off a lot of nasty fumes.

  • @aidan456456 Sorry about that. I used multiple cameras with different settings.

  • @epicfantasy is there something else i could use cuz idk where to get a anvil but gr8 vids man!

  • Thank you very much for being both patient and informative with this video. It is invaluable that these skills and methods never die.

  • can u make a axe or a sword or a dagger or something please

  • @TheGokartdude Been too cold for blacksmithing. Soon, spring is almost here. I will be doing a couple of knife making tutorials then I will be moving up to swords. Will make a bigger/better forge for that. Going to be a lot of fun!

  • @epicfantasy why does the season matter?

  • @qordales it only matters for me because my forge is outside and uncovered. Gets too cold in the winter!

  • if you keep ur thumb on the back of the hammer apparently the shock travels straight up that tendon and can cause tendonitis

(im only repeating what i have read and am only 13 so not the most reliable of sources)

  • where do you get your anvils

  • where do your anvil

  • @commandandconq3 THanks, this is good advice. Good form with the hammer is so important.

  • im 13 i love maing cardboard/paper things....is it to young to start black smithing? even if its just a simple thing like making an s like you did a few videos back? or making a link in a chain? (under adult supervision of couse)

  • @sonic4everpeople You are definitely not too young to start blacksmithing! Just need adult supervision. The fire/forge is dangerous and needs to be respected! I so miss the blacksmithing, need to get back on it soon!

Whole thing is covered in two feet of snow.

  • @sonic4everpeople well im 14 and black smiting in school

  • hi i love your vids, but i would like to start blacksmithing and i have no idea which metal to use and where to get it from ,any help would be greatly appreciated, thankyou :)

  • @eggnhamboy95 This is a definite obstacle for many beginner blacksmiths. You have to scrounge up metals. Junkyards are good. Or a construction site. Something called "Rebar" is a good place to start. And leaf springs from a junkyard is also good for making knives. Look for wrought iron like they make gates and fences out of. It's a challenge but buying official blacksmith metal is expensive. For now just try various scraps.

  • @eggnhamboy95 I personally just use any scrap metal I can find...beer cans, bottle caps, any old metal items you dont use anymore...and then make it all one big bar and work from there

  • you should put the designs on your website

  • aah how i love all these videos you make, i enjoy projects and art and imaagination wich you got! aah, how i wish i knew how to make the ideas i got in my head lol

  • @selfshadowxx Just try! Thats all it takes!

  • i have that exact hammer but its not as new lookin as yours,i think it might actually have a crack in it.

  • oi, i thought it was a shunned practice to shear metal on the side of your anvil due to potential harm! I thought people were suppose to use hardy hold cut offs.

  • @UnspokenHonor You might be right, it could be a shunned practice, not sure. I need a hardy cut off. Plan on making one.

  • i just got that same hammer its a stanly right?

  • @oblivionboy1 yup!

  • @oblivionboy1 haha sweet

  • @oblivionboy1 i think i may have the same hammer XD

  • @elroca12 I need to get a hickory handled hammer. they are much better. and better for the arm and elbow.

  • where do u buy your blacksmithing metals and what would u recomend like iron steel and whats a good beginer weapon to try to make first

  • @ashnbrandon1 So far I am only working with scrap metal. Haven't bought any stock yet. I recommend you start with a small and simple knife.

  • finally how long have i waited for someone that could do something this skillful you legend !

  • One question ... Can you teach us to make the Frostmourne? lol =oP Great work and tutorial thnx.

  • @cruix777 That would be quite a project. Frostmourne is a beautiful sword :) I used to play warcraft. Love that game.

  • Nice videos, I don't see left handed blacksmiths very often, I used to do it with my left arm, but most tools are for right handed, I changed to right for some stuff. Still nice videos, you got yourself a new subscriber.

    Joe

  • @TechnicusJoe Thanks Joe! Glad to have you aboard and would love to hear your advice and suggestions as we go along with the blacksmithing. I am so enjoying it.

  • when do you make a sword?

  • Ah man, I wish I had a forge.. That would be so awesome.. Just make like fucking swords and shit and axe's.. And parhaps even armour! I'd love to do that, would be a great hobby

  • @ThaisBlackXboxLive I will be making swords and armor. Right now working on a make a knife tutorial.

  • @epicfantasy I just made a forge after being inspired by you. The best part is I made it pretty much for free. Just some lighter fluid in the garage, some charcle from the store, some bricks and stones laying around, a junk steel pipe, a hair dryer and a match. It's simpler than it seems. Thanks for the help Will! It is greatly appreciated.

  • @SgtSamProductions Nice work! I love the can do it attitude!! Have fun with your forge:)
