Yes, the Dark Side of the Force has its own leitmotif (theme music) It is heard most clearly here beginning at 3:57. It is heard elsewhere in the soundtrack, particularly in Bespin at the beginning of a track formerly entitled "The Duel"
Yoda fled because the planet was strong in the dark side of the force so the emperor would not detect his presence. The episode in which Luke had confronted his alter ego, the spiritual foundations of his father within himself, and the corruption of the dark side was something he needed to face along to conquer his own fear, in essence the fear within himself. Is was a mystical experience.
Statement: For a while I could never understand why Darth Vader was in that area. I do now though. I loved that part when Vader comes out. That part was cool.
Answer: In a sense. It was a vision that Luke was having. He saw Vader, but when he "killed" him, Luke saw his face in the helmet when it exploded. So he must have been fighting his Dark Side.
@rebuiltHK47 Yoda told him what were the leads to the Dark side, his own face showed that he did have fear, anger, ect. I agree he was fighting his dark side. Vader would have been the person he feared the most!

I still don't understand why Vader was there, was it a dream?

Agreement: Indeed. Which he did many years later. But then he came back to the light.

@Calrissian512 mainly what it basically meant was if Luke didn't learn to control his feelings he would become the very evil he wanted to destroy
