i think the difference (now i'm completely un-educated on the subject) is that America at least breeds more pigs and cows and whatever else after we eat them in order to prevent extinction, but Japan, after killing all their animals doesn't re-breed any. plus Dolphins are endangered. Dolphins are different because they are self aware. They can tell themselves and family members apart. They know when They are about to die when the Japanese are killing them and the see their loved ones die right in front of them. They pretty much have the same mind as a human.

It's also been proven that the emotional part of their brain is about as developed as a human's brain, so they can actually feel compassion for another species which is probably what has caused them to save other species (ex: humans, whales), so to me it's not the same as killing a cow or chicken. They're too self-aware to be compared to them.

Not only is this industry wasteful and unsustainable, but it's also dangerous for the people of Japan, since dolphin meat contains unsafe levels of Mercury.
