@silverstarag Trevor Rabin is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer & more who was with the progressive rock band Yes from 1981-1995, also is an amazing Solo Artist, (this song is from his 1989 Solo album, "Can't Look Away", AND from 1995 to the present, Trevor is one of Hollywood's most esteemed, Award Winning, prestigious Film Composers (he scored, "Remember The Titans", "Armegeddon, both National Tresure films, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, I Am Number 4 (due out 2/18/2011) & more!
I was first introduced to Trevor through 90125. This song, and the album from which it came, are very special to me...played it like mad during the summer of '89! The highlight was seeing him at the Park West in Chicago during the corresponding tour! It was a 21+ venue, and I was only 20, but somehow managed NOT to be carded by the doorman - how lucky! Great, great show! How I wish he'd put out another rock-oriented solo album. We're ready, Trevor!
This album was very special to me, because it came out while I was in Army basic training, and we were restricted from listening to music until graduation -- which fell on my birthday in 1989. I bought this album from the PX, and having been a Yes fan since 90125, it did not disappoint me!
Bada** and brilliant and it's Yes's loss and the Hollywood film industry's gain to now have this genius of a songwriter, singer, composer, guitarist, producer, arranger..visionary who gave Yes a second and its most succeeful life from 1980-1995 via 4 multi-platinum albums, a Grammy, international tours, new creativity, energy, vitality, and artistry, and lord knows I adore Steve Howe..but forgive me Steve...Trevor is in a pantheon all his own...amazing!
one of the finest ever, saw him when he just joined yes, after close to the edge, squire walked across the stage and shook his hand, every yes fan wanted to. yeah. bb
Agreed. I can't fathom the narrowminded Yes fans who slag this guy -- he did a great job replacing Steve.
Live, he played Steve's parts respectfully, retaining the melodies and changing them just enough to add some of his own identity and style. I can't think of another guitarist who could've done that as well. It was obvious he had a genuine affinity for YES's music and wasn't just a hired gun. Those who don't think he was a legit member of Yes are just missing out on a great talent.
@Ken5244 Of the 2 Steve shined the greater in Yes. If he had, in his solo work, kept to the directions of his 1st 2 solo albums, (& found worthy singers - sort of like M.R) I think he'd have fared better overall. But mostly he's chosen to make guitarist albums.. & put out a number of them, scattered his gems among cut glass pebbles and such. Good enough. But I wished he had generally gone w/ a full band approach. Like S Hackett (surprising how often in songs the gtr is barely a feature at all)
All-around fantastic album...it's been in my collection since '89! If you can get your hands on it, don't hesitate! C'mon, Trevor, how about another one?!
My favourites are ,,Something To Hold On To" & ,,Cover Up". Any how: The whole album is AWESOME, a shiny pearl of music, like ,,Healing" by Todd Rundgren. ;-)
Trevor is one of the most underated musicians of our time. I wish he'd do a follow-up to Can't Look Away. Dude is an amazing guitarist.

I didn't know he wrote for them as well, but when listening to the tones and chords used in the intro, I hear Yes. Great music. Thanks for posting!
