  • Hi, Gavin. Thanks for the tutorial. I really like this technique. I used it for a photo I just posted on Flickr. I gave you credit. See it on my page, username AL Gator.

  • Great video and I used it to full effect on a lightship image in Tollesbury.

  • wow! awsomly amazing!

  • Thankyou!!!...Your tutorials are awesome :D

  • Gavin, you are so helpful. I soooo appreciate all the tutorials that you share. THANK YOU!!!'

  • Thanks Gavin. Very easy, as always, to follow. And the technical aspects (volume and ease with which to see what you're clicking on) are top notch. Please keep them coming.

  • Great to see a creative use of the Bas Relief and Cutout filters .

I had never thought to use them in combination with different layers and blending modes.

  • good job commenting about changing the mode to 8-bit. I took me *forever* to figure out that was why I couldn't access all the filters!

  • Welcome back Gavin. Don't leave us like that again!

  • By the way, this is Gavin's video about "Pixel Bender".

    watch?v=ueZRwQVLJFs

  • Cool video.

And to those who would like to install a plugin, you should try "PixelBender", and then after it's installed to Photoshop, go to the "Oil Paint" option.

  • Good job, man!

  • Haven't seen a new video in a while.

    Great tutorial as usual :)

  • Superb I used a similar train shot with great effect. Thanks.

  • Great simple and fast tutorial! Nice one Gavin.

  • Good photos don't need these effects

  • You're fantastic, you make things so easy for a photoshop dummy like me.

  • u rock!!! tq..

  • im here because i have no idea how to save my picture in jpeg.?? I've edited everything on my picture with different layers. I've saved it for web devise and that worked fine. Now id like to upload it to Face book, and its not alowing me to select the file?? I've tries it all and am at the end of my rope. starting to hate it!!! anybody know how to save the file so it can be uploaded to facebook etc?? thanks, Jonathan

  • @jonathanvons Just use regular Save or Save As (if it's already been saved). Then there's a drop down below where you enter the file name with a bunch of different image formats. Choose JPEG, then I recommend a quality setting of 8, that seems to be the best blend of quality and file size. Just be sure to remember which folder you saved it in when you come to upload it! You can also have Adobe Bridge set up to automatically upload images to Facebook too if you have it. Some vids show you how.

  • @TalesOfWar yeah, i got that part, but for some reason it saves it as a "adobe photoshop JPEG file" and that does not allow me to upload it to any sites including face book or acting related websites such as LA Casting or Actors access...?

  • @jonathanvons Hmm, interesting. Which version of Photoshop are you using? Are you saving as "JPEG 2000" by any chance? If so, just try using the regular JPEG. Failing that, try using PNG instead (use NONE when it asks if you want interlacing). The files are a bit larger, but the quality is better and most sites that accept JPEGs should accept PNGs too... in theory lol.

  • @TalesOfWar yeah, tried it all, right now im making a screen shot of the picture, but the quality suffers greatly... it might be somthing in my settings... after i edit the picture, and save it as jpeg, it just wont allow me to upload it, all my touched up pictures have been "grayed" out, maybe if i through my computer out the window, it'll start working...

  • Great my friend, thanks.

  • That was great. Thank you Gavin.

  • Hey Gav, do you always stick with Photoshop (as I see your add on list is fairly none existent) or do you use other tools too like Adobe Labs for example? The pixel bender tool kit includes an "OilPaint" tool which is really good. I'd like to see you demo some Topaz Labs tools if you have any of their software. Look forward to your next vid anyway!

  • Nice tutorial as always. Thanks Gavin. Keep teaching us.
