  • That's a nice looking tank

  • he doesn't even say to cycle and did he really say put ur most fragile fish in first

  • but when you have a fresh water fish tank it smells horrible

  • STOP VIDEO BUMPING

  • @brenttonbmx isn't it

  • I really need help starting my first saltwater aquarium EVER, please send me a message If you can help!

  • @lexiofmymusic Don't get saltwater first, trust me, all your fish will die, unless you've got some hidden exp. Start with tropical freshwater fish. Then move up to saltwater you will be less happy at first like i was but in the long run you'll never have to go through the stress of a reef tank and you'll grow attached to your fishys promise you'll start with freshwater tropicals, they can be very colorful and vibrant, just pick the right ones for you @lexiofmymusic.

  • I made my own water hahahaha

  • this guy knows his stuff, and if you know anything about fish you'd know that too

  • This guy didnt build a thing!

  • Nice setup! What model protein skimmer is that?

  • The sand at the very bottom of the tank, OW I THOUGHT SAND FLOATS!!! =D =D =D

  • @ikelleners

I have set up a lot of beautiful tanks, come on ,have a look!

  • nice video lot of help.....i want to make a salt water ree tank sum day

  • @minimorgan69 haha

  • @minimorgan69 its magnetic...i have one...

  • 30g tall? Isn't that just a normal 30g? >_>

  • really you have to put water in a fish tank what a strange world

  • "Blue balls" cause nitrates to form much more. You can use a deep sand sub tank with plant life, live rock, and unwanted things to make a better and an all natural filter.

  • who the hell pays 12.99 per lb for live rock?

  • @John8785 we payed $800 for all ours

  • can u use kitchen salt for saltwater fish and live rocks?

  • @starthi

    no

  • 0:51 do you mean $6.99 or $699.00

  • He should not be allowed to make another video. Reading of a script is never a good thing. And made his own water? Where in the hell can you go and buy pre mixed salt water?

  • @sinlesstwigs yes, you can get premix salt water over the counter if you have enogh money to spend.

  • how do you measure how much salt is in the tank (i have the hydrmoneter or whatever)

  • @dipmychips u fill it up with water and the hand thing that goes up or down is the answer if it goes up that means theres to much salt and if it goes down it means there isnt enough salt. if its in the middle it means its perfect. hopefully that helps u

  • @dipmychips u fill it up with water and the hand thing that goes up or down is the answer if it goes up that means theres to much salt and if it goes down it means there isnt enough salt. if its in the middle it means its perfect. hopefully that helps u and thumps up for helping lol

  • @urwack123 thanks man and do u know anything about clownfish i have two

  • @dipmychips theres a coral or plant not sure wat it is. its called called anemone U should buy one or two of them for the clowns

  • how does will one if theese COST me ?

  • @TheBitchesHate

    a lot

  • @1992pattrow i have the money so tell me

  • @TheBitchesHate

It depends on the size aquarium. First you need the tank and a 10 gallon is about $10-$30 but 100+ gallon tanks are well over $300(not including the stand). Good lighting for a salt water tank is anywhere from $100(per fixture)-$500(per fixture). Then live rock I think is about $10-$20 per pound. Then you will need a filter which depending on tank size will be between $30 and $350(if it is not a sump). Then the protein skimmer(up to $100), corals, then fish(not cheap).

  • 90Wx2 isn't power efficient but I suppose if the coral or w/e has to have a good light source to grow, then it might be, I have no idea how to do a saltwater tank so just my 2 cents on the lights.

  • @minimorgan69

its a magnet tip darts. not those hard ones.

  • NICE AQUARIUM.FROM WHERE DO YOU GET THE CLOWN FISHES?

    THE WWE NEXUS SUCKS

  • Hey What What is the water Level For Salt?

  • @minimorgan69 its a Velcro Darts...for very safe... even for a toddler like you and the 19 others who gave a thumbs up.

  • Decemt guide but I wanted more detail on what to get..I'll just have to read on it. I have a 30 gallon I am going to convert later on.

  • instead of live sand can you use rocks for tropical Aquarium IN SALT WATER Aquarium???

  • AHhhha 4 clownfish oh well this dude is brave....

  • can someone help me im thinking of setting up a saltwater tank and instead of using sand puting coral to cover the bottom so i dont have problems with poop and stuff getting stuck in and easier vacuum thing clean up is this a good idea?

  • @agunsson not really ,,, first off are you doing a reef or fish tank ?

  • last time i put gsm clowns with perculas, the had an all out battle, and had to separate them. looks like the ones in that tank get along

  • i dont have salt water ........can i put salt on a freshwater

  • @Mrpspaddict

    not with regular freshhwater fish

  • if your new, do yourself a favor and disregard ALL of this testimonial its everything you dont want to do to start a reef the only thing i wont completely disagree on is the distilled water, though i used RODI not distilled myself, no one should use tap municipal supply is not even suitable for human consumption

  • 4 clowns in a 30 gallon ?

    goodluck dude

  • put your most fragile fish in first? yeah right!! Always put a few "reef starters" in first (fish hardy enough to acclimate rougher water parameters). Blue damsels are the best bet because they are so cheap!

  • This is the most useless video ive ever seen.

To anyone looking to start a saltwater tank/reef tank, do yourself a favor and go to your local library. Pick up one or two books and do some research on how to get it going. There is alot more to salt water tanks then the guy in this vid pointed out.

  • yes this helped.... anyone can help me?

  • I think your talking about setting up a salt water aquarium (and the one you have is a bit to small in size to be a stable eco-system over time). When people talk about building an aquarium they are usually discussing glass / acrylic panels, silicone or acrylic solvent and lots of cutting adjusting ... basically loads of fun and hard work. You might need to rename the title of your video ... its quite misleading.

  • I think your talking about setting up an a salt water aquarium, not building one ... the title of your video might need a rethink. When you say build a tank people usually infer glass / acrylic panels, silicone or acrylic solvent and lots of manual work.

  • Hahaha Dart board at the side of the aquarium.

  • 10 is not stable for saltwater tanks unless you intend on keeping only corals or invertebrates.

  • don't watch commercials

  • i have a freshwater tank witch is nice but it would be cool for a salt water one but a salt water one is more expencive and dont you have to put stuff in the water like every 3 days?

  • don't buy the expert lies. 10 gallon tanks are not unstable unless you are a complete noob. I've had mine for 3 months and with a little monitoring, there have been no changes in water quality. 10 GALLON TANKS ARE PERFECT FOR BEGINNERS

  • @sgtbarone I know!! I have one. It's okay if you have a 10 gal.

  • the less water you have the more likely the levels of nitrite and nitrate are to get high. if you have more water, the levels will be more diluted. With noobies, they tend to be a little off with water changes and stocking densities, so the extra water comes in handy. Also you can have loads more fish in a 30 gallon. In a 10 you are stuck to small tetras and the like.

  • You really are sooooo wrong!

  • can you put jellyfish in the tank?

  • jellies are nearly impossible to care for. they have these upside down jellies that are exactly what they sound like. they just sit on the bottom of the tank upside down though

  • you mean, they die? uh...I just think the tank will be complete if there are jellies in it..it must be beautiful

  • cool vid thanks

  • next of all

  • what kind of tank is least likely to break faster glass tank or that other inda tank i think its plastic?

  • @djEvilDude get used tanks, they are good if they are in good condition

  • 55 gallons are good beginner sizes

  • AWESOME! I JUST GOT A 55 GALLON! =D....thnx

  • better than the other expert village videos but how many pounds of live rock are in that tank??

  • its kinda a fail to have a dart board next to tank

  • lol "i made my own water"

  • lol

  • Good observation !!!

  • Do i have to use a wet and drive filter or can i just use a normail filter??!?!?!

  • depends on what size tank you have.... i say 40 gallons or less does not need one

  • it looks like you have the percula clown fish and the black one but i forgot what there called, i didnt know you can mix the two together, did they say you can or did u just try to experement it urself?

  • The title is quite decieving. He's telling you how to SET UP an aquarium, not how to actually build one by hand.

  • is it a good idea to use reverse flow with a under gravel filter in a salt water tank to help keep the area clean under the rocks and coral

  • thanks for adv :)

  • How to BUILD!!!! an aquarium not to set up!!Fool!!!!!!

  • were do i buy glass to built a 5 foot long by 2 foot wide by 3 foot tall tank is 9 mm glass good or should i go bigger like 12? i dont know never done this before any one send me in the rite direction?

  • is this good for blue crabs to?

  • hi there. i have a 85 gallon FOWLR. the sand i used when i first set it up last june was given to me by a neighbor and now he has moved out. i dont have a clue if the sand is live sand or just normal sand since i was thinking of giving it a quick stir. is there a way that i can check if the sand is actually live sand. regards

  • do not stir up your sand. this causes a LOT of stress on many types of fish. sand becomes live between 5-16 months depending on activity of the inhabitants and bacteria available. you can check various online sites for sand sifting "crews". that would be my personal advice for you.

  • Pour vinegar on it to see if it fizzes and if its carbonate... on a sample of it not the whole thing.

If it fizzes you have aragonite sand and taht is good. Even if its not "alive" per se. If it hasn't been kept in moving water it is probably dead, but just go buy a small bag of live sand and mix it.

If no fizz, then toss it and buy live sand.

  • Do you change your water and if you do how often?

  • you will want to do 10% water changes weekly, it causes less stress on the fish than say a 20%+ water change. as well as helping keep down nitrites and nitrates. all of which depends on your feeding schedual and what inhabitants you have in the tank along with size...

  • great! very straight to the point
