I live in edmonton, alberta, canada and would love to go to an international auto show. Would it be worth it to go to the 2011 auto show? they have one in edmonton every year, but i wanna check out somethin more extravigant. Will I get that out of Detroit??
@dyllanFJ i live in Michigan and go every year. its a good show but has been lacking since the auto industry crashed. if you are thinking of going you should probably wait until the auto industry gets better if you want to get the full feeling
@dyllanFJ I will fly in from Cali this year because it's two years after the crash so should be back in full swing. It's one of the best shows in the world and for sure the most important in the country. Don't forget the casinos and restaurants downtown and book hotel early because they will sell out. Mariott Rennaissance Center is the most convenient, and Cadillac Book (Westin) is spectacular if you want to spend the money.
Except the Japanese government subsidizes the Japanese auto industry. If they didn't get the money from the government, a Honda Civic would cost around $25,000 starting.

Their oldest model thats a high seller is Focus. Chrysler still has PT Cruiser. Ford wins. They'll be out of debt on their own. GM and Chrysler could go back in debt.

I love BMW motorcycles but between my Dad and I owning between us six Volkswagens, one Audi 5000 diesel and two BMW motorcycles except for one motorcycle and two cars the German machinery was problem prone and unreliable especially their electronics.

Yes, and they produce for customers outside the US, that's why they have different brands. As for Vauxhall, it has very few unique cars. they are direct copies of the Opel models, with even the same name. The same goes for Saab.

Cruze is ok the first time you look at it then its boring just like the Cobalt. Volt is gonna be too much to be a high seller and GM doesnt need a money losing halo car right now. Chrysler has again NOTHING. Their only cars are rebadged Fiats. Ya they have some new cars coming out "eventually" but when is that???

@ss0rca Ford has a new Super Duty, Fiesta, Focus, updated Mustangs and lots of new engines. And have you seen the new technology they are putting in cars? First with SYNC, now (Hyundai or Kia)? has something similar, not GM. Ecoboost. MyFord Touch. Capless fueling. Adaptive cruise control in cars that are affordable. Their oldest model thats a high seller is Focus. Chrysler still has PT Cruiser. Ford wins. They'll be out of debt on their own. GM and Chrysler could go back in debt.

@188043 Let me be clear, I want Ford, Chrysler and GM to succeed. I don't care about Toyondasubibmwissandai. Ford is making the most appealing cars they've made in 40 years. 3-4 years ago their product line was pretty lame overall. Chrysler has some beautiful cars hampered by some cheap materials from Mercedes cost cutting(all being changed for 2011). Cobalt, Impala, Lucerne, DTS,STS are GM's only ?'s and they're all due for replacements.
My favorites? Challenger SRT8 + Cummins 3500.

Interesting video. And as far as those disparaging remarks about American cars, I've had a number of American pickup trucks,and Japanese cars. I love BMW motorcycles but between my Dad and I owning between us six Volkswagens, one Audi 5000 diesel and two BMW motorcycles except for one motorcycle and two cars the German machinery was problem prone and unreliable especially their electronics.

American cars COULD be the same, but it would cost more money, and Americans don't care whether they advance or not, so there's no need for US manufacturers to change. It's not prejudice, it's just business. American manufacturers sell basically NO cars outside the US, so they need to only please US consumers.

Yes, and they produce for customers outside the US, that's why they have different brands. As for Vauxhall, it has very few unique cars. they are direct copies of the Opel models, with even the same name. The same goes for Saab.
