i'm in eighth grade so i can't be in marching band yet. soooooooo why do I see snare drummers using traditional grip. I just do't get it. some please explain.
But the snareline usually sounds dirty when they're playing something sophisticated or even playing an open roll. I prefer match, but traditional grip looks sweet.
It usually depends on what the center snare wants everyone to use.
I see two things that need work throughout the the line, stick height with the tenors when the tempo picks up needs work.....outside tenor uses more vertical, where the inside tenor uses more arm and very little wrist( which defeats the purpose of the warmup. The basses need to focus and quit looking at the drums, look towards your snare captain, or to the drum major, at least look in the same direction. Good variations of eight though, may want to add dynamic changes though. Just trying to hel
@FalamsProductions basses also need to be serious when warming up, they seem really lazy with technique(feet and hands). never got a good look at the snares, but i can say from a percussionist view, the left hand is definitely the weak point.
line needs a lot of work.... going through the motions, but not understanding tap/accent and elemental relationship.... instructors are inexperienced and amatuer.
subdivision guys. i don't mean to be a asshole like some ppl but u half to half to have a universial interpretation of an initial downbeat. if u dut like that u loose the beat and slowing u down on an warm-up or in a show but other than that u guys aren't that bad and ur top basses hot and theyplay hella go dude. What circuit are u guys??? cause im eastern district TOB ch.12.........but no disrespect or nothin like that man
i guess its supposed to make it an easier playing zone for the tenor players, 'cause im assuming only 1 spock drum has a smaller/more difficult playing zone.
sorry if im not clear, idk how to really explain it.
huh?, easier playing zone? i dont think so, i think it was to have the 8 inch (i think) drum that the small tenors have, and still have the 10-14 inch (not sure of exact size) drums that the large tenors have
higher stick hights, and tenors need a difrent split part, for 8 on a hand it should be 1x8,2x8 1,3,1,3,2,4,2,4 then spock 1,3,s,1,3,s,2,4,s,2,4 then once you do that you go back to 1x8 and 2x8
i dont get why drumlines warm up during half time before they go on the field. i mean, u just played through cadences and standtunes before halftime...why do u still need to warmup????? my drumline doesnt warmup before we do our show. we run through the show music. plus, skipping the warmups gives us more time to work on the show music before we get on the field.
well. many reasons, my drumline always warmed up with like 8 minutes till halftime. settings change with high school games, such as going on the field times, and show stuff, so it helps you work out stuff
It says you don't waste time with long warmups that you don't really need. Phantom Regiment plays about the most basic, yet effective double beat exercise there is. Nobody needs to be ramming crazy beats to warm up. It's cool sometimes, but you don't need it.
excuse me but if im not mistaken warming up means stretching your muscles so that you dont strain something, ya know get loose, and excuse me but your middle school drumline aint shit compared to our drumline if you ever see one of our shows you would faint, if you dont like then dont watch the fucking video fuckin dumbass
check out our line this year. you'd flip shit. our third movement in the show has a killer drumbreak...hopefully it'll be up soon. give feedback on some newer vids. thanks
