while i appreciate your enthusiasm it would be wise to take those economists words with a grain of salt. chinas economy is still centrally planned and as a result the majority of the investment capital is poorly utilized resulting in growth only from increases in production, than from genuine innovation. so bad bussiness goes on about as much as good business does. Also china has historically had only its coastal areas prosper while the inner regions stagnate and generally do not do as well.

not truely part of Mexican national soverignty, they were territories NOT actually part of the Mexican government. that distinction is important because most people cant tell the difference and get states confused with territories. Territorities were just 'claims' made by governments.
CA was actually it's own country for a while, and Californians (San Franciscans) wanted nothing to do with Mexico or the US, until the gold rush fever hit and the US won them over with trade

while i appreciate your enthusiasm it would be wise to take those economists words with a grain of salt. chinas economy is still centrally planned and as a result the majority of the investment capital is poorly utilized resulting in growth only from increases in production, than from genuine innovation. so bad bussiness goes on about as much as good business does. Also china has historically had only its coastal areas prosper while the inner regions stagnate and generally do not do as well.

As a result of this fiscal imbalance between the coast and the interior we are going to be seeing more and more unrest as chinese provinces fight for independence. we have already seen this in xinjiang and it will spread and get worse as time goes on. also china only borders the pacific and its navy however big it may look is less than a 10th of american tonnage so it can never control the oceans and hence never come close to dominating the planet like the US does. china is in real trouble.

They have reach the status of "empire" on many occasions. Nationalism? You do realize that the China spent nearly half of their 5000 year history in a state of war between Chinese Kingdoms. All great civilizations where kept cohesive by military strength. And the idea of "nationalism" is actually quite modern, there was no concept of "nationalism" in China until the founding of the Republic of China in early 1900's.

Agree. That is what I learn from Stavrianos' A Global History book. Competition among kingdoms was really crucial for the growth of China culture. Interestingly, Stavrianos also mentioned when first discovered by European people, cultures in America and Australia continent were so primitive due to the lack of competition.
