  • After "True Believers," Marvel's next ones should be team books called "F.O.O.M." and "M.M.M.S." Then they can get around to "Forbush Man" and their next summer event: "War for the No Prize."

  • Oh, I would SO READ 'War for the No Prize!'

  • Sorry, couldn't fit it all. Anyway it's like the current new warriors comic has nothing to do with any previous incarnation of the new warriors but it's used as a brand name because marvel is afraid that if it's not something their fans have heard of in some form or another that a title then won't sell.

  • Tetsuo- You have a point about brand name recognition, but that brings me to my point that why does Marvel have to strip mine its past to come up with ideas? Are they so devoid of new ideas that they have to keep 're-inventing' the old ones? Or has Marvel turned into Hollywood and is basically going to remake everything (ala Iron Man, Hulk, New Warriors, etc.) I'd like to believe they're better than that, but only time will tell.

    Thanks for the comment! Elliott

  • I pretty much agree on the name recoginition which i think it's more of than trying to remake. Because not just new warriors but matt fractions the order derives it's name from a kurt busiek comic that featured the original defenders team. They probabbly just wanted a team name that would be recognised and probabbly picked at random. I'm not saying its a good thing. I just think its more sad than really something to get angry about. But then again the term wasn't as important to me as you do.

  • Actually, Fraction originally wanted to call The Order 'Champions' (yet another old team title) but was unable to due to copyright restrictions. You are right though, it's more sad than something to get angry about, but I DID say I was being irrational, right? ;-) Elliott

  • That is true you did say that. :D

  • When i first heard of true believers i didn't really think about the implication of it being sorta dessecrating something. But then again that could be because of the cynicism of the 90's in which i grew up in which my young self would feel that the only guy who could make the term true believers cool was stan. Now I will bet bragging rights that carey bates wanted to do original team book and marvel said, "but it has to be something people are familiar with."
