nice lift, what is the best way to get results on the bench? would you say low rep high weight, or just do reps of 10? I can bench 300lbs for my max and haven't really seen any gains for a bit, I am doing 4 sets of reps 10-12.
How does one's wrist bones not break under the pressure? Everytime I do this exercise with 60lbs, my chest/arms can tolerate the actual exercise, but my wrists fucking kill me.
Just as I'm not impressed with your grammatical skills. I've been called many things in my life but never skinny, nor fat for that matter. If you want more of my professional knowledge, look me up.
His arms are too close to his body. His arms are almost in a close grip bench press configuration, which is a tricep exercise. His upper arms should be at the 90 just as in a bench press. If he is intending to work triceps then I stand corrected, otherwise, this is just bad form.
I stand corrected.....sort of. I consulted a few people and I found out this is a power lifting/strength vs body building question. Bringing the elbows closer to the body is a power lifting or strength technique as it recruits more of the triceps to assist the lift. Moving the elbows more toward the 90 takes a lot of the tricep out of the lift and isolates the pectorials more. If strength is your goal, move the elbows closer to the body. If pectorial hypertrophy is your goal, keep it at the 90.
Dude, no offense, but I know this guy pretty well, and, well, his pecs couldn't stand much more hypertrophy. Bottom line - more weight on the bar = more mass on your ass. Hank's a monster. It isn't bb'ing v. pl'ing at all - it's getting large
In the 8 months since I wrote that I've started working with D1 athletes and a D1 strength coach. I've since learned that benching with the elbows closer to the body is an athletic and powerlifting form, and it is much better and safer on the shoulders than lifting at the 90, it also, in my case, allows for more range of motion. However, lifting at the 90 is more of a bodybuilding form meant for hypertrophy. I'm not saying either is wrong, it's just two different ways of doing the same exercise.
correct if you're ever at 90 when benching you're putting your shoulders at a horrible position. i hope you're healthy and going strong strong hrp. how do your shoulders feel after such heavy pressing consistently?
No I think what he is trying to do is powerlifting form..That you tuck your arms inward to use your lats in the exercise so you can use more weight. I know cause I've tried this before and yes you can use more weight if you do it right.
your form is straight from the text book...good god...i know some strong ass dudes...several 600+ in the shirt....never see anyone handle 150s so strict well done
best DB pressing vid i seen on youtube

@1onlytaz go heavy for fewer reps if you want to keep increasing your bench. A strong back is important to improving chest also.

I disagree, arms at 90 is bad form for bench pressing
