  • Irrespective of all your comments, this is a beautifully paced and played performance of whatever Purcell intended it to be :-) As for the Pachelbel parallel, someone needs to broaden their mind by listening to some more ground bass pieces... and then ask himself if Pachelbel ever moved the ground bass figure into the upper voices, allowing the bass stringed instrument to have a shot in the limelight? Not that he wasn't capable - he just chose not to :-)

    I quite agree.

    Furthermore, Purcell is in triple meter whereas Pachelbel is in duple, Purcell's ground is in groups of 6 whereas Pachelbel's is in groups of 8.

  • Its been historically proven that pachelbel and henry purcell never met each other and most probably never heard of each other
