  • This escape is too... competition friendly.

  • I always get the MIR lock on me when trying to do this escape on an experienced guy.

  • No no! The best escape from a triangle - not to come across in it.)

  • tell what why do you try to on me in case ya didnt know when ya roll over to protect again the choke you are leaving a wide open window for KO or lot punch to head there is better more sure way to defend again it so simple out you the same he try put accoss and jsut bend it so you elbow is going to force in to croth so the hard he squeeze the more pressure he find being appied to him well let say jewels very painful alsoe by move forward ya keep him off

  • @thlegendishere2009 I've giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming that English is not your first language. However, that being said- I have no idea what you are saying here. I guess you're gonna punch your opponent in the head (which in Submission Grappling is leaving you wide open for a DQ, not a KO), and then elbow him in the groin (bc your opponent isn't wearing protective equipment)?!?

Thanks for watching, and please check out the site.

  • @TechniquePrevails ok first off i dont get a award for perfit grammar do i second i know what im talking about look the clip again you will see there few windows where you do so many differ things when you the one on the botten as elbow you simple place as wedge between him and you force him to make choice let go or cause pain in order to hopeful get the choke

  • Lost my last fight to a triangle. Will be giving this one a go tonight! thanks for all the vids mate, I have used a few of your techniques in the cage. great stuff.

  • This looks like a decent escape, I will give it a try over the next day or two & I will let you know now I get on with it..

  • I use this all the time as well....and works for me. This was the first Triangle escape I ever learned and is the only one I use. Thanks for posting the counter to this as well. I have been watching technique prevails for some time now. I want to say THANK YOU for all your contributions to the Martial Arts community. It is easy to take for granted all the hard work that goes into these videos. Okinawa, Japan

  • @jaya1965 Thank you for your feedback. Great to know that our videos have helped you!

  • Nice vid

  • i fought u basicallly muscle them up and powerbomb them.

  • @ViperVersionOne Uhhh.... Helio Gracie said that.... right?

  • @TechniquePrevails, I'm not very good at the escape but I figure someone might be able to use it. Happy New Years!

  • cool. i got choked out with triangle in my 2nd mma fight so now im learning all the triangle escapes i can

  • this technique and instruction is very misleading. you have to understand if the man on bottom has in the choke tight this doesnt work, and the harder you try to get out of it on top, it leaves your right arm extremely vulnerable for the bottom man to get wrist control and spin to a reverse armbar. so be very careful using this technique to defend a good triangle. but if the triangle is loose its a okay way to escape if you maintain a solid base and stay upright.

  • @drubekalb I have to disagree with you about being misleading. I think it's pretty clear in the instruction that there's the "go to sleep" angle and then there's the correct defense. This certainly isn't a go-to escape for me, but rather one that I hit if my opponent has already taken my trapped arm across the body. The key here isn't the tightness of the triangle, but rather the blocking of his hip. If you can get him off the correct angle, then you can survive with this.

  • @drubekalb That being said, all good grapplers can agree to disagree. I do appreciate you watching and providing feedback, and I hope you check out the site.

    Thanks!

  • @drubekalb greta point didnt think that but you right on so many way to counter the person on top trying to get free

  • I pull this off all the time... I leaned it from my professor in gracie barra a long time ago... it works... its just not too nice on my ears....

  • @TechniquePrevails. What you think about this but? When the person realizes he is not going to get the triangle, they try to adjust it by squaring back up. When they do that 1st I give them a little resistance so then they pull real hard. I try to time it and and when they pull I go with them and pass the other way.

  • @bowandarrow303 Give it a shot and please post the results. I'd like to know the effectiveness of it.

    Thanks for watching!

  • I have seen Marcus Soares teach this.

  • this is a great escape i use it alot but usally i tripod up to make room to throw my arm back into the guard. this escape is oone of my favorites :)

  • Also, please note that this is part of our newest video set called "No-Gi Evolution: A Systematic Approach to Submission Grappling" which is available at our site.

  • A lot of people had questions about last week's counter to the triangle counter, but most of the questions were about the triangle defense itself, so I decided to put it online with a little more in depth look at the defense.

Enjoy- and please check out next week's technique of the week which is already posted on TFW. If you don't want to fill out the registration form, you can just login there with your Facebook username and password by clicking the Facebook login button!
