The anatomically charted heavybag can be strategically struck with open hands, pushed, punched, clenched, headbutted, kneed, kicked, elbowed, etc. The lack of bag gloves is eye opening for someone training for reality. A heavy bag is softer than the human body. Charting a bag with anatomical parts will keep the individual aware of where on the body they are striking. Train from positions of default, social interactive positions or positions of surprise. Visualize the fight.
yes and, believe it or not, you can knock someone out more then you can using a punch. its to do with the transfer of power and energy into the other person. ALSO you punch your more open to breaking more bones in your hand. slapping you hardly would break anything, maybe sprain your wrist at worst.
In the COMBAT GONKA Curriculum, we use the heavy bag and the GONKA POST to condition and familiarize our bodies to the impacts of fighting. Notice, that we use no bag gloves when training.
Out of curiousity are you doing a particular "style"
