is the sound as dynamic as it sounds? Some people say english speakers are bit laid back or boring, but I keep listening to b&w videos compared to others(yes i know you should listen in real life), but I love how they drop in sound and put all this dynamics in the music
@Yeolde777 I think they are, but then again I have only ever owned B&W! Go listen to some, is obviously hard to gauge how they really sound from a video online.
@davomrmac Thanks - Have now added an FMJ P38 power amp and bi amped them. Got the A28 running LF and P38 HF. Sounds a lot better now, speakers being driven properly. I'll try to upload a video with the same track although it might not sound that different over youtube etc!
@Mongooseaudio - Slightly odd thing to say, personally I don't measure my masculinity against the cabinet volume of my sub. The Monolith is a good sub but the 400 suits me better. Home Cinema will always play second fiddle to my primary interest music and as such the 400 is the better sub for me. It's tighter and more musical than the Monolith and goes plenty deep enough for what I want, faithful reproduction of music.
Have you had a chance to compare your excellent CM9s to the ProAc Response 2.5 (my all-time real world high-end floor speaker) or one of the newer Response series models?
Also, if you've had a chance to audition or own some Naim gear, I'd like to hear your impressions in comparison to your superb FMJ gear.
Why not that combo? I suppose I am familiar with B&W and Arcam together. I really like B&W speakers, want some floor standers and can't afford the 804 Diamonds. Plus I don't want anything from the 600 series again, the current ones have served me well for a decade but want a real upgrade as well I really like the new gloss back finish in the CM range. I also like the slim profile of the CM8's.
I could change my mind when I go for a demo think I'll like these. I'll try a few apms like cyrus.

@NickRetroSixtyCoUk OK nice one! I bought the Sub Focus album after listening to this!
Let me know which amps you're looking at. I still have my DM603's and an Arcam Alpha 6 amp, still singing well, but time for an upgrade. I'd like to replace it all, but these days I live in Thailand, so there's another 60% import tax on top of the UK prices out here.... :-( Cheers...
Nice set up man. I love B&W and Arcam together, I'm still running a system 10 years old now in B&W 602 S2 and Arcam Alpha 8 but considering an update to something similar to yours, although one model up from your amp and one model down from those speakers so Arcam A38 and B&W CM8's. How do you find the combo and do you think the 38 would be needed for the CM8's? I would also use a BK XXLS400 subwoofer, 12" 400 watt sealed sub.
@bluedroog I find Arcam always works well with B&W. The A28 drives the CM9's fine, I bought the A28 first before the CD37/CM9s, if I could turn back time I would have gone for the A38, but I will probably add a power amp at some point. I would have thought the A38 would sound good with the CM9s, why that combo though?
Hello, what is the name of the song and/or album by Sub Focus? BTW, very nice setup. I have an Arcam AVR300 + Klipsch RF-7's, so I'm salivating contemplating what that track would sound like in person on my system :)
@kapeshnica75 - They seem excellent so far, maybe not enough bass for some rap/rnb music, but for what I listen to (Jazz, Electro, House, Soul) they are very good for the money. Certainly you can crank the amp to full volume without any distortion.
Thanks, obviously not the best medium for people to hear them but hope it gives some idea :) They do sound great for the money, and this track sounds brilliant even when pushing the amp to it's maximum.
great hi-fi system

@theaudiophilestore I haven't actually but must do so. I haven't listened to much Niam, but have heard it can be too bright and trying for some ears.

where the CM 9 are manufactured ? do you know that ?
markusdecker90 10 months ago
@markusdecker90 The factory is in West Sussex UK, they used to make all their speakers there I believe but not sure if they still do!
NickRetroSixtyCoUk 10 months ago
I have one more question. :D
I want to buy B & W soon. I am not very sure about the gloss black. Can you see on the speaker very much dust or fingerprints?
markusdecker90 11 months ago
@markusdecker90 Unfortunately fingerprints do show up quite easily but rubs off easily too.

Very nice, an great track. What made you buy the CM9's over the CM8's?
monsterp1970 11 months ago
@monsterp1970 Just wanted the top CM model really as I had/have intentions of adding a power amp or even replacing the amp itself.
