Yes the conservative party won a majority government with about 60% of the seats. However, they only recieved 39% of the votes.

These stat only include the number of people who voted this election, which was around 54% of the elegible voters in Canada.

When you do the math, it comes out that our majority government was elected by, and represents 22% of the voting population of Canada.

You know I have never voted and probably never will. However, Jack Layton was someone different, someone that will be sorely missed by Canadians for what he represents. Great man, that seem to genuine love Canada and cared greatly for people especially those in need. That's why he will sorry be missed, not just by his family but in politics as well.

Even when he was dying instead of worry about the fear of death, he wrote to people and his party that he spent his lifetime caring for. No one can hope to replace him and no one should, while the NDP will go on, I will never think of them the same without Jack Layton.

I didn't agree with his politics but I did agree with his love for this country. I must say I was happy with Jack being the opposition leader to keep the PC's on a leash. I don't know if we will ever see a man that is so dedicated to his lives work and ideals. Let's hope that Jack Layton's legacy lives on.
