Aye it did look good. But Fleetwood is a town with serious problems. Although this did make it feel festive.

To all you negative posters, don't be so twattish. At least some people get off their arses and try to do nice things for the local community. I can't see why they would want to, when they're greeted with such nastiness and ingratitude. But then it wouldn't be Christmas without a few miserable scrooges to pour scorn on everything.

gosh dunt lord street look long , ive lived in fleetwood all my life and im 25 its a fab town, nice to have seen that we got the lights last year lets hope we get them this year 2009

Thanks Katie. Yes it is a very long street for such a small town and we can't criss cross the lights across the street because of the tram track so we pay double for the two strings.  There wasn't any money left for fancy bits last year. Hopefully when we put our buckets in the shops later this year everyone will make a good contribution. hi, i have only lived in fleetwood for a month or so now and i overheard something about this while i was out the other day, so i though i'd have a look. I travel around alot and have seen many towns and villages in my time, in my opinon from watching the video the lights arn't to good. i'm sorry if this does offend people as ive seen from previous comments but in my opinon chrismclare123 is right

By the way, the company that Chris works for has contributed nearly £1,500 towards these lights. Sorry, I forgot to mention it.

We do all this for the people of Fleetwood voluntarily - in our own time. Our family and friends help out. And we put our hands in our pockets to help things along. The vast majority of Fleetwood loved the 'blue lights' - the latest colour in Christmas lights.They were specially ordered direct from China, custom made for Fleetwood. Blackpool Illuminations designed them. How many other towns can say they've got such a fantastic display?

We work hard all year to raise the £15,000 to put them up.There are only a few of us and we have to run dances,boot sales, raffles, raise grants from various official bodies, go round all the businesses asking for donations etc etc.Then we have to approach the designers and the engineers to see how it can be done without interfering with the tram electrics.Oh and then we organised a big show on the street for free with some fantastic stars, groups and singers.
