Continued: he's using a lowest level of stim dog can detect to communicate with the dog, not correct it. He is demonstrating effectiveness of the training system in a shortest time frame possible. Dog associated e collar stim with the leash pop so he could work without the leash in very short time leaving Brazilian audience in awe. Most people in the audience probably thought e collar was a way to torture dogs and terror suspects but much to their amazement this is not the case.....
Ok for everyone not getting whats going on this is what I believe Fred was doing:
He's trying to build a relationship with the dog in this short time frame he is given and get dog used to the collar at the *same* time - not recommended but sometimes only option. Building a foundation for training basically. He's nicking the dog with e collar on lowest level every time he yanks the leash, you can tell when this happens by watching dog's body language. Well, that's it I reached character limit lol
In what way is the collar being used? What types of settings and when do you give the signal or release the signal? Without this information and proper training people might misuse the collar.
what is the youngest you would use this collar on a border collie? I have a 3 month old border collie that is very soft and has a problem with any harsh corrections, yet she needs to learn boundaries. Any suggestions?
@tholieeileen60 only try the collar if you are extremely skilled and well trained yourself on collar usage. A soft dog like the one you describe could have adverse reactions to the collar.

Fred - It would really be great f you tell us what you are doing with the collar, if anything, when you're beginning the work with the new pup.
