Is this comparable to a 9800gx2? I havent been a PC gamer for long so I don't know the history of which cards came out at what time and shit. Also which one is better? (If you are a fanboy of either ATI or Nvidia please do not waste my time, I want a non biased opinion/ facts) I would easily do the research on my own but my psu died so i am without a computer and i am on my PS3 doing this so it is very hard for me to do the research.

the only downside of this cooler is that it SUCKS. the card overheats in NO TIME even with 100% cooler fan speed in most modern games. RIDICULOUS. if you buy this card - get a third party cooler for it. Accelero Xtreme from Arctic Cooling should do the trick.

DX11... ok not needed now, but in a foreseeable future you will need it. I guess the games that will be released in the second half of 2010 will nearly all be dx11.

why use call of juarez for test? that game is not that heavy, even my inno3d 8800gts, AMD athlon 240 x2 @ 3.21(oc'd), 2gb ddr2 kingston @ 667mhz, emaxx EMX-MCP61P-AVL, runs smoothly on this game.. how's about trying a very heavy game on the 4870 x2? so we could really see if this baby could go to the limit...like rogue warrior, bioshock 2 or Metro 2033.... or any other heavy games...

What you also don't say is this card runs HOT - I had to create a custom fan profile with RivaTuner to try and keep the temps under control.. and boy does that fan get noisy.

Poorman1o1 for your information GDDR means Graphics Double Data Rate and DDR means Double Data Rate. Both are RAM and come in different speeds.....The RAM on graphics cards are simply smaller which is why its knows as GDDR...

You see, that is my problem, nodody is willing to try this out, everyone is assuming it can't work, or it will be such a drag to have these two cards in this set up, where's the proof, you know. 4870 and 4780x2 are the best "bang for buck" product at the moment,

I got my 4870x2 over a year ago and the shelf price has gone from £384 down to £314 in over a year, considering the common depriciation in PC kit I can live with that.

I wish he would have showed adding some AA (anti-aliasing) to those benchmark results because this thing tears through AA. Most graphics cards take a rather large hit when AA is enabled on video games but this card takes it like a champ.
