What kind of work do you do? Do you work full time or part time? Do you have weeends off? Sorry for all the questions...lol. I agree that you charish time with your kids when you work...my husband always wants to hang with the kids when he gets home and i am a stay at home mom so its a nice break for me...lol.
great video thanks for sharing - Im about to go back to work as we are over burdened with debt and you have helped me look at it from a whole new more positive perspective - the biggest problem I find is with other people ie grandparents, random busy bodies, total strangers etc telling me how damaging it is going to be for my 10 month old daughter and that Im being selfish - so thank you so much!

alright video, how i started to earn extra cash was to to join up with a great website called "heavy dollars" - its straightforward, you do short email surveys and get paid!
I *AM* a stay at home mom and totally completely 100% agree with you. I find that when I'm away from my daughter I appreciate the time I have with her a lot more. It definitely does make time a lot more precious and I find that when I am away from her I spend a lot more time playing with her and have more energy doing stuff with her than I would when I'm at home 24/7. I think you worded everything great and I couldn't agree with you more!
Thanks for sharing your upsides! I have to return to work soon and am already very upset about it. But I was/am lucky because my daughter will be a year when I have to return. I'm lucky that in Canada you get a year paid off.
I hd 2 snd my son 2 DC @ 6 wks old & yes I do feel bad evryday whn I drop him off. But cme 2 thnk of it he has not got sick yet @ almst 4 mo old & he is ok wit other people. & as much as I cnt wait 2 c him @ night I do thnk I appreciate the dwn time! I myself am trying 2 look @ it in a pos way. it will mke going 2 school whn he gets older easier & the DC said by me starting him early it is the perfect age bcause kids tht were 1st @ hme all the time cry everytime thy get dropped off.
i went back to work with my son when he was 3 months old and it was hard but its what we had to do at the time as well...I pumped for a year and then he nursed all night long lol to make up for it (me being away). he ended up nursing till he was 2. Im unemployed now so will probably have to go back to work soon but its going to be really hard all over again!
Ive been a full time working mom before and it is very hard. You are right I think about cherishing your time w your baby more though. I am fortunate to be able to temperarily be a stay at home mom with this baby but I remember the days when I had to work w my other children and time just goes by way too fast. Great video.
I don't know how you working mommys do it. I worked 3 days a week and went to school all week when my daughter was a baby, up until I got pregnant with my son. I quit work and school. Sometimes I miss the break sometimes and i need to get my school finished. But i'm almost scared to go back to school and work. It's like i'd have just as much stuff to do when i get home only less time to do it, and i have a hard time pumping regularly, but i've really been lookin for a weekend job lately at least
I agree. I am currently staying home with baby #2. I enjoy it but I have a master's degree in nursing so I do miss putting that to use. I miss the mental challenges that come with working and the personal satisfaction you get from earning money to help the family but I can't bear to put her in daycare yet. When she's 2 she will start school/daycare and I'll get to go back to work. It's a difficult balance but I do agree with you 100%. There are benefits to doing both. Thanks for sharing!
I've been both (working and sahm) and I can honestly say there are some advantages and disadvantages to both. I think you did a great video and you always give out great info in a positive way!
I have to say you made this video at the perfect time. My husband and I are thinking that I may have to go back to work and I have been terirified of leaving my son!! You are one of the most positive, happiest person I know! Thank you so much!!!
The insurance is also a huge thing for us that is extremely important. I am so happy that we don't have to worry about how to pay for health things. I mean in the past year I have had an MRI, CT Scan and a major surgery that we have did not pay a single penny for. Our baby will go to the doctor for FREE for the first 2 years of his/her life. That's something that is worth working !!!
Thank you for the support because you are right... most of the moms here on you tube do stay home.
I am really excited about the extra socialization my baby will receive at daycare as well and I am excited that since our baby will be going to daycare he will build up his immune system which is even better for me since I won't be breastfeeding ! Personally, I know I will be a better mom after I have a break from our baby for a bit each day.
We are in the exact same boat as you guys... we have a high mortgage and nice cars and we have to work for those too. I 100% support you....
I do not have 2 work but im a full time student now so Jacob is going to daycare instead of my moms because he needs socialization. Im starting out slowly, they said i can come and go as often as i need to, How do u know your daycare is safe is my question, I
Ella went to daycare at 9 weeks old stopped breastfeeding and she went into her room and slept in her crib all the same week I went back to work! Its def very hard! I work 36 hrs a week 3 days a week night shift. Working night shift and being a mom is so hard because those three days I only see her maybe 30 mins-1hr. I cherish every moment with her that I get! I know about the pumping too ugh 30 mins 3x a day. I am always running around on my days off trying to get housework done and the such
Those 3 days must toally stink! But is it just awesome to have 4? I'd love to just work 4 days a week... whenever I have a 3-day weekend I actually feel like I don't just work all the time... then again, on those weeks I just work 32 hours.
yes they do but I self schedule so sometimes I can get up to 8 days off from work if I schedule myself to work sunday monday tuesday then don't come back till thursday of the next week!! I like those weeks :)
Hey Jeni, I totally empathise with you with the having to go to work but wanting to be a SAHM thing. Although I only work part-time, everything else adds up so u feel like you're working 24/7 sometimes! It would be cool if u could make a sort of 'a day in the life of' video showing your general daily routine, because I find it so hard to imagine how u find time to fit everything into your full time working schedule. I'm always exhausted...
Thats a great idea! I will totally do that! I think that it would be neat because later on down the road I could watch it... yeah, I'll do that! Thank you for the idea!!!
im a sahm but i went to night school for about 3 months, and i know exactly what you mean about cherishing the moments more. the whole time i was at school @ night (about 4 hours m-f) i missed him soooo much! and i really missed putting him to bed! so i agree!!
I think that you have to do what is best for you and your family. Here in Australia we do get alot of help from the government so I am able to stay at home but if we didnt get that little bit extra i would have to go back to work. I think, well done, and you should be so proud to be able to offer your child the best life possible. You have a roof over his head and a safe car to drive and food on the table. Dont feel bad about having to work at all. Its what you have to do. And he seems just fine
You're doing great Jeni. Look how happy beautiful Deacon is:-) Please could you do that video on co-sleeping..i'd really like some advice on that as I dare not do it with my 14 week old, but want to when she's a little older. Also please please could we have a weight loss video...so sorry!!!! I know you're so so busy but just at some point as you're looking such a skinny minny and I cannot shift my weight even though i'm breast feeding. xx
Aww u seem like an awesome mom! Great going.. iam though a SAHM and i do gotta say my son is very social, loves playing with other children, and shares. He mostly plays with his younger brother, sometimes with my good friends daughter. (NOT HATE MAIL JUST WANTED TO MENTION LOL) I will be going back to work tho in mayb 2 years when my oldest starts school. I love spending time wit my boys , iam glad i have tons of patience. Keep up da good wrk, gives me strength for when i gotta go bak 2 wrk:(
I was in marketing up until a few weeks ago... srtill with the same companie but now I handle recruitment for major companies. Ive been with the co. for over 8 years... makes it ExtRa hard to leave
I recently started my daughter at part time daycare. She is almost 6M and now when i'm home with her on my non-work days I enjoy every minute of playing with her! I used to get frustrated with her sometimes when I was home with her all day. She gets to socialize with other kids and I dont' have to find playgroups and try to find other moms with kids her age-I loved staying home with her for the first 5 1/2 months, but I do enjoy my productive time at work now as well.
Thank you for making this video. I am considering going back to work after my little guy is born and people that have confidence in it, like you, make me feel better if I do decide to make that choice. I didn't work for a long time after my daughter was born but we suffered with finances especially as a young family. Thanks again for making this!
I am a full time working mom as well. I feel like there is not enough time in the day. I try to get so much stuff done on the weekends when Audrey is napping and after she goes to bed on the weeknights. Plus getting my school work done. Half the time I dont want to cook dinner because I want to spend every minute with her when I get home. I am also the carrier for health, vision and dental on all 3 of us. You are a great mom and you can see how happy Deacon is!! He is too cute!!!
I'm SO glad you made this. I get so down sometimes about not being able to be with my baby. I was supposed to get to be a SAHM, and when it didn't work out and I had to send him to daycare at 4 weeks, I wanted to just die. Anyway, this is nice to hear, because sometimes I really get in the rut of seeing the glass as half empty.
I'm with you. Its hard, soooo hard, to stay positive about it but you gotta do what you gotta do... even if it isn't the ideal. I'd so much rather be with him all the time... damn economy! But it will sure make their first days of school easier!
