for one thing, you probably just hung every single valve in your heads by doing that, because after you shut it off, cold air comes in and cools down the valve guide and hangs the valve because YOU DON'T HAVE MANIFOLDS/HEADERS INSTALLED, and you probably just round a few lobes off of your cam because you didn't break it in, and fried your rings by not running ANY COOLANT through the motor. total idiot. you are a complete dum&^&^
ONE THING TO REMEMBER! Don't excessively build the top-end without upgrading the bottom end of the engine or vice versa. this difference in performance between top and bottom ends of the engine could result in engine damage damage.
Why is it people just can't wait and do things right? Unless you have a roller cam, cam break in takes about 30 mins. That motor won't make the breakin period without exhaust and cooling. SBC are very very forgiving but they do have limits. Good luck
i have 1 thousand to spend on this car at the moment and i need it to run with more power than stock so i need specific instructions on what to buy because there is variety of parts that go under wat u just told me so a reall list would be awsome and how much horse power u pushing is ur car powerfull
@simmymini my motor is pretty much stock exept for the new edelbrock intake and carb , plus flowtech headers and MSD distribuitor and cables.. original hp was 265 and now i believe its close to the 300's if not more. totall spent . carb $300 intake $200 headers $120 , distribuitor $130 cables $100 E3 spark plugs $80.. so yeah it haulls ass .
i have a 79 camaro i currently have the intake manifold off and im gonna pull the heads soon im stuck i dont know wat parts to buy to make this engine more powerful and if you could gimme a few pointers on wat to throw on it it would be great!!!!
@simmymini i wanted to go with the full edelbrock package . i have the dual plane intake from edelbrock and the 600 cfm . this engine came out of a 71 impala . just buy a dual plane intake , some aluminum ported heads , nice cam and the carb from edelbrock. performance is guaranteed . this engine hauls assss on my street lol . is up to you man , buying parts is kinda tricky because they might not work well with eachother.
@simmymini or Create a video response did you ever figure out your plans with the 400?i just finished mine in my 84 monte. 400sbc bored 30 over scat crank keithblack pistons comp cams mutha thumper vortec heads edelbrock rpm airgap holley 670 street avenger msd ign hooker headers straight back dynomax ultra flows not cat. the cars a beast now its worth every penny
Feel sorry for this engine

If ur going to start it put some manifolds or headers on it. U could fuck up your valves by doing that!
