A WHO HAS SEEN THE WIND board game? Listen, I love WAITING FOR GUFFMAN, but I think the REMAINS OF THE DAY lunchbox has been trumped. So funny, the title doesn't lie.
Could you tell us what show this was for, and what year it was made? Rick has been one of my favorites since I was a little kid staying up late to watch SCTV, so seeing this hilarious pre-SCTV video of him is great. Thanks for posting it.
ohmygod. I just watched this again. Poor Caroline This was one of the moments that got Rick into SCTV. Ken Finkleman is comedy god. He had the idea to edit this by audio. We went into a radio studio and cut it by content and let the pictures fly, jump cut or not. Look him up. He is a comedy genius. I am just a lucky guy.
@carm3d: The hilarious part is that Steven wasn't even supposed to be in the video. He was just the guy whose loft we rented but when we saw how much he wanted to be on camera, well, Rick took it from there, adding some even more hilarity that so fit with Rick's character.
I would like to remember the name of the woman doing the interview. Would you mind putting her in the info for the video. She should be getting the same credit as the others.
Really interesting! I heard that Finkleman did improv with Moranis but I never knew anything was filmed. I'd be interested in hearing more about this era and if there is anything else available!
This is absolutely hilarious. And that necklace! I'm just about dying laughing... my sister had that Mickey Mouse necklace when she was about five years old! Imagine that crazy 26 year old thinking his Mickey necklace is hip.
This is a GREAT clip. Please DO NOT ever remove this video. Too bad we haven't seen more of this kind of comedy lately, especially from Rick Moranis. Thanks for posting this clip.
There was nothing like this on TV at the time. Garry Shandling and Larry David and so many other shows came WAY after this! Message me for the back story. Rick, me, and the genius Ken Finkleman created this style of comedy! Sorry, I know you don't believe it because I'm not a celebrity but we did! And it was in Canada, where most of the best American comedy is born.
How about This is Spinal Tap, I am sure there are other examples, but it seems a bit much to say you created it (improvisation on TV), how about did it before it was widely popular.
This was five years before Spinal Tap. And there was improv on TV from the likes of Nichols and May, Stiller and Meara, etc. I am referring only to the shooting style: no coverage or master shot like sitcoms. I have researched this and haven't seen this style of shooting and editing before this. We cut it for the audio and let the pictures fly, even if meant jump cuts.

Rick Moranis is SO multi-talented I don't know why he was always typecast in movies as the nerdy guy with glasses.

That's how you do good improv. :) Shame he's retired. I hope he decides to come back some day.

You're right. She introduces herself at the beginning though. She's Caroline Yeager.
