  • I've always felt very isolated, and living alone is expensive! Maybe community living would work for me! I am going to keep researching this. Thanks so much for making this video. I have saved it to my Favorites.

  • I lived in a household-sized community for eight years. Things cost a lot less -- because we shared rent & utilities & tools & spaces in the house. And much more interesting than living alone. It takes communication skills. Check out Peak moment episode 83, with Diana Leafe Christian, who's written a book about what intentional communities need to be successful.

  • Oh that's just awesome! I wish I could have found a place like that back when I was in collage. If I did, I might have stayed there.

I wonder, Is the house owned by the group or is it rented? If it's owned, the members could build equity. Buying a piece of a house would certainly be more affordable than buying an entire house.

  • They're buying the house...so they're building equity. Part of the challenge, as Tree noted, was getting insurance. Companies aren't used to so many people owning a house (actually theirs is two houses with a connection built between them).

  • i thoroughly enjoyed video...inspiring. i hope to start a small community and have been losing hope of finding others to come here. thank you!
