I discovered Groucho 40 years ago, I bought books about him and asked to stay up late to watch this interview and because of him I find humor in everything. Thank you so much Julius.
I'm 53 and discovered Groucho as a teenager also. I still remember the first Marx Brother Movie I saw...Horse Feathers, on the 1:00 PM movie on Milwaukee's Channel 18. Groucho was the original rebel (well, after Chaplin), and the classic American Rags to Riches Story.
How many times was Groucho Marx on the dick cavett show because imdb says twice but when you go through youtube you find what appears to be him on at least six or so times.
On CBS Sunday Morning today Anthony Mason paid tribute to his father and stepfather with the Groucho Marx-Harry Ruby song he does here. And Groucho's comic timing is priceless--when the backstage bang takes place at the one minute mark he's doesn't miss a beat.
Who better to celebrate Father's Day than the man who said of bigamy, "yes, and it's big of me, too." Thanks for a Groucho moment I had never seen before. Happy Father's Day.
I remember hearing these 2 songs on Groucho's live album, "An Evening with Groucho", which he recorded at Carnegie Hall. He did not sing the 2nd verse of "Today Father is Father's Day", however: I've never heard it before! Thanks, cavettbiter, for posting this great video and the German lyrics for "Everybody Works But Father" What year was this Cavett episode first broadcast?
Sehr Gut!

in freakin' yiddish? groucho could do it all, and probably still does if he'd ever come out of retirement. (sticks head in sand and enjoys the smell)

haha during his story from 0:36 - 1:05, it is absolute brilliant how groucho doesn't miss a beat after the incident at 1:01 :).
