A dual engine failure almost never happens unless you run out of fuel. Running out of fuel happens because of poor planning on the part of the pilots. Not sure if thats what happened in this case but very sad never the less.

Its almost ALWAYS human error or a chain of errors....the mechanic installed a wrong part causing false fuel level readings.....then the faulty design of the fuel system in turn did not trigger warning bells to tell the pilots of low fuel.

The pilot got in trouble, because he did not do his job properly. If a plane is refueled, the pilot is not supposed to take off unless hes has the refueling receipt, he took off without it, thinking he has enough fuel just by looking at the fuel gauge which unfortunately happened to be the wrong one.

I would just like to say "god bless" at this point it makes no matter people saying silly things as many people died and I am sure the pilots did their best with the "actual" event (crash). Hope they all rest in peace.
The day before the accident the fuel indicator was faulty and replaced with one incorrectly, the one used as a replacement was meant for a similar but smaller plane. At take off it had just 450kgs of fuel instead of the 2700kg the faulty inicators told them it had. This lead to several criminal convictions. check out Tuninter_Flight_1153 on wikipedia

Why would the pilots have got into trouble when the fault was with the people who put thre wrong fuel gauge in?

The pilot got in trouble, because he did not do his job properly. If a plane is refueled, the pilot is not supposed to take off unless hes has the refueling receipt, he took off without it, thinking he has enough fuel just by looking at the fuel gauge which unfortunately happened to be the wrong one.

@LilFlip3000 well im glad there was so many survivers. 3 weeks ago i was on a flight and we had extrem turbulens im glad the pilot had so increadible skills. tho i am very afraid of being on a flight with a girl as a pilot. they can fly as well as the guys in normal situations. but in very difficult situations the guys is better to avoid disaster.

@MrDard123 mate, pilots only land and take off and only control the plane %5 of the time, if ur turbulance was in the middle of the flight it was the automatic pilot using computer intelligence to adjust the plane automatically...

Two grave mistakes were made to cause this crash.
1. The maintenance crew installed the wrong fueld reader which was meant for a smaller version of this plane.
2. The pilot took-off without the refueling receipt. A simple piece of paper which could have saved the lost lives in this crash.

@ildanny80 the fuel valves were that were fitted on this plane were meant for smaller air crafts meaning the fuel did not reach the engine as it should causing a perception that it had run out of fuel

The day before the accident the fuel indicator was faulty and replaced with one incorrectly, the one used as a replacement was meant for a similar but smaller plane. At take off it had just 450kgs of fuel instead of the 2700kg the faulty inicators told them it had. This lead to several criminal convictions. check out Tuninter_Flight_1153 on wikipedia
