  • Feels like dont wanna listen to anything else...

  • this makes you wish he still played a gibson

  • Well, this is a fine gem isn't it?!

  • @rothcam2 i think this, along with the early joe pass vid i have up, are two youtube gems - i dont like uploading vids which i havnt taken but these are just so good

  • @rothcam2

I'll second that, pure early Jeff ....great sound!

  • Nice Video except for the Pop -ups / I hate them things.

  • mr beck at his best - happy new year

  • I love this video and sadly have never seen a copy of this group's album. I need to pick this one upp :P Thanks for posting this awesome clip!

  • That guitar has some serious tone and character! What a fat midrange.

  • the intro lick i cannot play, I give up. it's so beckian!

  • my brain just exploded all over the screen

  • @specter1001 i found quite a few beck vids from this era thanks to youtube - hope you get your brain back together

  • Awesome bassing!

  • @stretchmorgan thanks for putting me on to the prince of guitarists!!!!!

  • @sidneyandherbie Would that be Prince Rogers Nelson?

  • @stretchmorgan yeah thats my old schoolmate steve 'amazing' fields that is,.,he was in my brothers band many years ago..he's dead now and thats very sad.,last time i saw him he had become a recluse..its pretty sad really..

i met jeff beck through steve when they played in a pub in dulwich..been a fan ever since

  • @radicalsystems That is sad. One'd like to think that being that good would mean people would take care of you a bit. I haven't heard anyone play better with a pick than this. Most people find playing like this virtually impossible. Its a rare gift. I only know of Bobby Vega who can do it to that standard. I'd like to have had a lesson off this guy, A shame indeed.

  • @stretchmorgan yeah i miss the guy..he became a total recluse for some reason..dont know why..but yep he had talent thats fer sure..d ive become a fan of jeff beck since as through steve i met the great man..

  • i also uploaded this clip..bigger image on mine but what the heck its all good stuff..

  • @stretchmorgan Amazing isn it? Who is that on bass?

  • That was fantastic. I've been a Beck admirer since the 60's but never heard This before.

  • I don't like anybody who doesn't like jeff beck. After Harrison, and Clapton, prob my fav guitarist of the 60's.

  • Throughout his amazing career, with Rod Stewart as his first singer, to the Beatle's George Martin as his producer, to being asked to play with both the Stones and Pink Floyd to his masterpiece 2010 album, Beck has always been a guitarist's - a musician's guitarist - a true master of his craft and not just technically but with genius and passion. I've seen him play the heaviest, tightest stuff imaginable, and he weaves in James Brown style funk somehow! No one can make my jaw drop like he can!

  • I've probably played this on guitar a hundred times....and I still cannot get it right like Jeff plays it. He probably played it 5x at most!

  • Oh man, I used to have this album. I had totally forgotten about it. Thanks for posting. Upp rules!

  • Jeff Beck is like porn for your ears.

  • @Gamrspt Yes, but much more satisfying, or so I'm told!

  • SO. SO. SO. SO. SO. GODLY.

Even TODAY he pretty much blows every guitarist out of the water. (Exceptions: Page, McGlaughlin, who he is equal with.)

  • @LedZeppelinisgod100 - i agree. beck's guitar-playing is quite something. i'd put him on a par with hendrix, green, blackmore, page and clapton.

  • @aewd1980 hmmm maybe not clapton or blackmore. but Hendrix, Page, and Green for sure.

  • @LedZeppelinisgod100 - lol, i take it you aren't the biggest fan of either blackmore or clapton? well, blackmore did become a bit lazy after the "burn" album of '74 and i rate clapton at his best between '63 and '70. as it happens, some people consider clapton to be hendrix's equal, if not superior to him. i don't though. peter green i consider to be under-rated as i love his playing, such passion and imagination.

  • yeah well, they're rather boring compared to the others. Hendrix's virtuoso and PURE musical expression is basically unmatched (exception: Beck) and Page's range from the most driving of blues-rock composition to his gentlest acoustic work and shimmering guitar parts is totally unique to him. Not to mention his outstanding tone, and phrasing. Green is, yes, VERY underrated. very soulful playing. Clapton was alright in Cream. Blackmore is a good guitarist, but not a good musician.

  • @LedZeppelinisgod100 - well, i haven't heard much of beck's music but i love his playing on this song from guitar heroes. i also like duane allman from the allman brothers band. he liked clapton's playing and loved jamming with him. i reckon jimmy page was probably the best player in the yardbirds.

  • @aewd1980 oh man you gotta check out some more of him. he will NEVER cease to amaze. Yeah, allman's a greaaat player. very soulful, very solid.

Page probably was the best player in the yardbirds, yeah. or Beck. But Beck hadn't developed as much as Page had at that point.

  • @LedZeppelinisgod100 - lol, can you recommend any of jeff beck's albums in particular? i'd be interested to hear more. by the way, did you know that the yardbirds recorded a version of dazed and confused before led zeppelin? i heard it on here, it ain't bad but robert plant sung it far better in my opinion. as for blackmore, he may technically be a better player than others but he doesn't seem to show the passion and soul to be a true legend.

  • @aewd1980 Sure man! ohhhh where to start :P

    Truth - 1969

    Blow By Blow - 1975

    Wired - 1976

    There and Back - 1980

and his very latest, Emotion and Commotion - 2010

(im not familiar all too well with his 80s and 90s stuff, although ive listened to a good amount of it on YouTube.)

yes i did! yeah Plant definitely did it WAY better than Keith Relf. no questions asked.

Blackmore was good technically, yes, but I don't think he was BETTER technically. equal, yeah.

  • @LedZeppelinisgod100 - thanks a lot mate, i appreciate it. i heard that the jeff beck group are meant to be pretty good. i quite like robin trower and rory gallagher but again, i haven't really listened to much of their music. someone reckons that kurt cobain is a superior guitarist to jimi hendrix would you believe?????

  • @aewd1980 no problem, love to spread the Jeff Beckery around lol

yeah Kurt Cobain is DEFINITELY not better than Hendrix. no chance in hell. it's not even respectful to compare Hendrix's genius to Cobain. whoever said that does not know what they're talking about.

  • @LedZeppelinisgod100 - lol, you said it mate! some people are so ignorant. cobain was an accident waiting to happen anyway. i've decided on my first beck album and i'm also thinking of buying my first rory gallagher album! sheer bliss or what? it's a pity that duane allman died the way he did, the world was robbed of a great talent.

  • @aewd1980 true that to Duane Allman's death. such a talented player.

also which Beck album did you decide on??

  • @LedZeppelinisgod100 - i decided on his first album, truth. i thought that would be a good place to start. i also plan to buy the 2 anthology albums of duane allman

  • YES YES YES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YESYES YES

i cannot even describe how godly he is.

  • thanks for posting! This is from a one off programme called 5 faces of the guitar. I can remember it clearly. As far as I know it was never repeated, but was a classic. The other players were Julian Bream, Barney Kessell, Paco Pena and John Renbourn. Has anyone got the complete footage? At this quality??

  • i would also love a decent copy

  • Way cool performance! The Guv'nor and UPP had the pure spirit of FUNK in them.
