This is my aunt the godmother. I remember this ceremony, it rained the first two days. It meant the girl is pure the way her feather on her head stands straight up is very rare, and it stood straight through out the whole ceremony. It means that the feather is happy and the girl is pure.

actually she does the same thing. but she doesnt run as long as the navajos run, she dances all day, and runs a short distance on the field then back~ but man its an all day thing, n its hot!
the girl is beautiful and is doing fine, so are the women. too bad for all the iron horses and all the men dressed as cowboys or rappers. be proud of your heritage, speak your language and wear you hair your ancestor's way. true apaches rule.
im Navajo, and the way he spoke he reminds me of my grandfathers and uncles when they used to talk to us. brought tears to my eyes,,, and i like the part where he said "we should pray and say thank you..."
if u have a part 2 of this then u shuld reeli putt it upp cuz im actually a girl that dances in the ceremony and i just wanna remember the nite so if theres another part then plz put it on
Thank you for posting this video. As a proud apache who is far from home. This brought tears to my eyes. I was overwhelmed with longing to be apart of something as beautiful and meaningful as this. I miss my Culture and my family. I miss the sights and the smells that entail this experience. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
It's not about the puberty really, it's all about the cane. The ceremony is about the cane that she is given. It is a blessing for her that she may be able to use the cane when she is old. It is blessing her that she will have a long and prosperous life. That is what the Apache sunrise dance is about. Us Apaches look forward to old age. We see it as a gift.
Can you tell me how to say i love you in White Mountain Apache as im very much in love with one of them and id like.Right now hes in White mountains im from Scotland living in France i hope and pray the spirits will bring us together .I love you Tyee my Apache warrior
