I wrecked a mazda rx-7 on that road. Going up was gravy, coming down? Not so much. First thought when I saw that hood folded up in front of me, after realizing that the airbag had blown my face raw was "Glad I got the full insurance." The tow truck guy that picked up the car said a person dies on latigo canyon once a week. Went back and drove it again just to beat the jinx. Truth is, it's a serious piece of road and not one to take lightly.
Haha, I crush this road every time I go up there. Since there is so much turning, my small engine means less, and more so my driving skill and car agility. I don't think many people have the balls to do what I do.
Well IT IS BULL in the sense that you don't drive your Tesla like they did on the track in real world. Even with hard-driving the range would be 160 miles and with "normal" drive the range would be around 230-240 miles. Ask the Tesla Roadster owners. When a ferrari drives on a track the consumption can be as high 1.8 MPG!!!!!
A Tessla Roadster is a sports car. They're meant to be driven hard, just like a Ferrari. They're not designed for picking up groceries or your kids from soccer practice.
Fuel economy and cruising range are usually not important factors for a sports car except this car takes over 8 hours to recharge! If i drive from LA with a full charge to go Willow Springs Raceway for a trackday, I'd get in all of 4 laps before I'd have to spend the rest of the day charging the damned thing.
this dud is driving the speed limit. used to drive that road multiple times a weak and I can tell you that he could safely be going 10mph faster in most of this video. pansy
Love the sound of the motor even though it's low. Until they chop the price at least in half I'll have to settle with my Elise which is pretty much the same thing except gas powered and lighter.
Nice road, but the driver is so arrogant, blah blah, I know how to drive, blah blah, don't be scared I KNOW what I'm doing, exactly what I'd expect from some Californian car salesguy
I've drove this road earlier this year, but much slower and in a pickup truck worth a lot less than 100 grand. It's a beautiful drive. I'd still rather take it in a Tesla though.
I dont know where you live... but here in europe. Normal cars don't make sound EITHER. You only hear noise from the tires.. So it wouldnt make a difference because a tesla roadster has them TOO.... There ain't much V8..V6's etc here anymore.
I bike this road, it's so fun! The other day I say a Tesla Model S beta being driven. It was astounding. And the driver was awesome ^_^

Problem with the Tessla is this: When actually driven hard, the battery will only last your 53 miles.
