Oh shut up. If you have a skill level that exceeds what's shown in this video, close it, and check out some of the wonderful technical stuff over at the pinkbike website. But, there's no need to flex your e-peen, and broadcast to the the whole world how "lame" you think beginner videos are. There may be someone out there that takes something useful from this, and if that's the case, more power to them for being willing to learn about their new hobby. Spare the sanctimonious bullshit.
There could be many things wrong but most likely the front shifter is not properly aligned. There is a small screw on it which you can adjust, but I would recommend taking it to your local bike shop. When you change the alignments on the front or rear it affects the other gearing so it needs to be done properly. You could adjust the front shifter so the chain goes onto the big ring on the front only to find the chain grinds on the rear lower stay. So, take to a good mechani
My shifter wont go to the large one of the "three chain rings" ( left hand side) It will shift to the small and medium, but it will not go to the large one. (I just bought it used) what is wrong with it?
He crossed the gears before he said not to. The hanger was flat against the rear cassette and then reaching awkwardly forward. You can't demonstrate something incorrectly and then try to correct it later. Do it right first time.
WOW! This is great. I'm not a racer, yet I still appreciate this info. Thanks for sharing. How do you suspend your bike like this, to test the shifting? Mine is not working properly.

just wanna make sure you know that you can't change gear when there's no pedalling.
whether you're pedalling moving the bicycle, or like that guy in the video where the bike is lifted up.

Thanks, I'll remember that.
