Remembeer in that movie The Good The Bad And The Ugly when the Union General sees Tuco take an insane huge drink of wiskey and says , "you'll make officer". Ever been to a VFW? They are mostly drunks. I hope it helps a little for all the s**t you've experienced to help keep me safe.

He had other problems, his behaviour in the 30's-40's was always keeping him in some sort of trouble, in today's military he'd be cashiered out as unfit. Gotta be some kind of plaster saint today or you get kicked out.

boyington couldn't keep it together at flying tiger line due to his drinking, which was excessive even by FTL standards.
