I have always loved american cars, but recently I test drove a few cars and trucks from toyota, and I have been converted from to domestic to impror. I find the quality is much better on there bigger cars. The yaris is a little cheaper, but its supposed to be to fit a budget. The only thing the americans still have is extreme affordabilty and the give you a lot of standards toyota doesnt.

We've owned our Yaris since maybe November / December and have put plenty of kilometers on it. We find the Yaris to be very, very reliable. The only issue we've had is when it gets down to 2/8 bars remaining the fuel level isn't very accurate (as in it changes) but otherwise GREAT car fantastic fuel economy.

I recently got a five-door Yaris, and it sure is a great little car at a great price. This video is now outdated, though, since the car now comes with side airbags. Although, I agree with one thing, I wish the split-folding rear seats were available all trims. I got the base hatchback (crank windows, manual door locks, etc.), and the rear set isn't split. That's my one and only complaint about this car.

I love my Yaris ... at least what I remember of it. I'd only had it a couple of months when some lady in a Solaris crossed the center line from behind me, and as I turned into a driveway, she smacked me in my driver's side door at 45 or 50 mph! How rude! The car has $7000 damage, but it did protect me very well for such a small car. I'm so sorry that lady tested its safety for me though! Stay awake while driving, people!

abs brakes help you avoid acciedents so you dont spin out of controls when the road is wet. so you have more control over the steering when avoiding accidents

it's not height adjustable, but you can move it forward or back. you should be fine :)

i think other similar cars would be the honda fit, kia rio, nissan versa, etc.

I was wondering what country this was I know it wasn't the U.S. because we don't have this style of 4dr. I bought my 4dr. '08 about 2 months ago, already put over 5k miles. Perf. is far from "spunky." The trans does do engine braking on downgrades and gets stuck on 3rd for upgrades. I get around 37mpg with a light foot, about 30 with a heavy one. Engine is noisy but at highway speeds it smoothens out. Bumpy ride, you will feel every crack in the asphalt. They could have softened the ride a bit.

This review is a Canadian. So its for Canada. The 5-door is offered in most places except the U.S. Because we have the xD so Toyota doesn't want to intrude...but maybe just maybe Toyota might bring over the 5-door version. I like 3-door version myself.

I am getting one this month but I am really unsure whether to get the Yaris 2008 Full options with the spoiler ( which I dont like, cause it lifts the car ever more up at the back), or the 2008 half option which does not have a spoiler. I know this sounds silly, but I really dunno which one to get, please help!!!

Get the half option, i did and im very happy with it after 8 months. Every time i see one with the spoilers im glad i didnt get that one. It looks much better without them, its not meant to be a sports car, the full spec is not worth the extra money :)

Where i live there is base spec with 1300 cc, mid spec with 1500 cc and some options, top spec with 1500 cc and full options. Ive got the mid spec which is a 1500 cc. The 1500 cc is very quiet at 60mph, im not sure about the 1300 cc because i havn't driven one.

i hate how toyota designed the front of this car, its even more bubbly and ugly than the previous Echo. the hoodline is way too far up im not sure of the reason for this but a bug deflector looks so stupid on these cars its crazy, it may appeal to some people but not me

This car is awesome. I'm an American and I bought my '07 Yaris Liftback 2-door 5-speed manual last year for just a little over $12,000. I'm getting a combined 40 mpg (I accelerate slowly and drive no more than 60 mph). It handles really well too.

However, it could've done without that drive-by-wire throttle though. That throttle lag is a HAZARD. I was caught in a situation where I had to make an emergency maneuver from a standstill. I shifted to first, stomped on the gas and let out the clutch, all as quickly as possible but appropriately. The car stalled instantly due to the 1/2-second throttle lag so it was as though I hadn't even pressed the accelerator when I let out the clutch. NOW THAT'S BAD!
