Personally i do not recommend BUYing a slide guitar but take the time and make one.. theres only a handfull of dimensions you have to follow and you can make one out of nearly anything! im working on a custom slide with LED frets and pickguard :) you can get real creative with these

@urbanstature what your hear is syncopation, triplets and other rhythmic patters however he IS on beat. A wise man only talks about what he knows, and if your calling a metronome a ticker I think you should better your music knowledge before talking

2. His songs are tuneless and so damn generic.. (Roots has got to be the lamest genr of music)

3. He can't sing nor play weissenborn. If you don't believe me.. Check out another Australian artist-Jeff Lang. He heavily influenced John Butlers guitar style, and is an awesome singer. 4. Xavier is a damn cash in on Ben Harper.

@FornoDan Jeff Lang doesn't play didge, at least as far as i know, but he's still a completely amazing guitarist, one of the biggest influences for John Butler, not sure about Xav though. Look up "Jeff Lang Live at the Basement" it's just a good live video of him playing lap steel. Otherwise "Jeff Lang - London" is another great one. His acoustic stuff is just as amazing.

@adraim69 It's called hemiola. It's a form of syncopation. You put triplets over a duple time or duples over triplets. In this case its simple meter (aka straight or duple, ie 4/4) eighth notes over compound meter (aka swing or triple, ie 6/8). It can sound out of time, and this kind actually makes the drummer sounds just a bit behind. But I assure you, he's not.
