There was so much quality in those 6 years of our lives words cannot describe. Yes, we collected twigs to fire up a home made bread toaster. Meat was air dried and water collected from wells. The woman on the left named Berna is now living in Yaniruma from the Rerefano's village a few hours from there. She and her husband Baiyo are still alive and not killed or eaten. You can also check yourself if you are dissatisfied. It's only take 1something hour flight from Jayapura with a small aircraft to the jungle.

oh dear. There nearest town is hundreds miles away. We had to fly to the nearest landing strip in a tiny aircraft, trekked for days. Despite processed foods as we couldn't survive without them (how useless & helpless we were), we still had some moral reserved not to seduce them with our food & clothes.

Don't get me wrong for not sharing food & clothing. Our modern food would make them die because of sugar loads & our clothes would make them contrive skin deceases because of extreme humidity.

Hey Joe. yeah, it's really hard not to have a negative impact on a situation like this as you're obviously aware. I lived and worked in Telefomin in P.N.G for some time and there was a lot of change happening there, even to the extent that someone had brought in a vehicle. I used to do that back in the jungle..it tastes good though..it's a big palm..peel the bark off and start smashing with a pole then put in the bucket and put some water..squeeze it and throw the bagase let it settle for hours and the settled mixture is like sweet rice...you can cook it over the fire or in a kettle or you can wrap it with banna leaves! so delicious! i missed the thing i used to do back in the jungle..i missed those times where i climbed up the coconut trees! love it! dats delicio
