Just realized one detail-- this was actually week 15 (still the final regular season weekend) -- one weekend (what would have been the original week 4) was lost due, of course, to that strike the well-reputed replacements started the 1st of 3 games on what was originally weekend 5
Loved the xmas-related tune @ 4:00 -- so good to hear it again!
If you have anymore of this game, I would love if you posted it. I happened to be in LA for the holidays that year and family legend has it that my dad wanted to take a later flight home so that him and I could go to this game. Ended up not happening but I would love to see what I missed out on as it would've been my first game.
atlanta got deion sanders detriot got barry brent u got your dream superbowl 22 years later he said minnesota should thank dallas dallas should thank them for that dumb ass trade
seahawks rarely fared well in kansas city-- after one win there in 1980, seahawks would not win in arrowhead until 1990 and that required last second hail mary-like play
So this was what, the first of two straight seasons the Jets and Giants met at the end of the regular season (saw an upload of the 1988 meeting intro where the Giants needed a win for the NFC East title; lost on an O'Brien to Al Toon score late).
I think that the Saints would have won that game, and eventually would have played the Niners in the NFC Title Game because I think that they could have defeated Chicago, and the Niners would have taken care of Washington.
Wow......Walter Payton gets a send-off in his last regular season game by the Oakland Raiders and George Blanda!
I was never a huge fan of Al Davis, but that's pretty classy.....

Hard to believe the Vikes' two playoff road blowouts that year would have all been for naught with a Cardinal loss.

Musberger wanted Colts and Saints in the Super Bowl back in '87. He got his wish 23 years later.

For the record, the linebacker that Largent locked up with at the line of scrimmage was Jack Del Rio

Some 20 years after this, the Indy Colts took home a Super Bowl title.
Three years later, at the Colts' expense, New Orleans won theirs.

Brent got his wish....23 years later!
Also the final game in St.Louis Cardinals history, before the move to Arizona.

Beautiful tribute to Walter Payton from the City of Angels.
No better man to do it than former Bear and Raider George Blanda who just passed away.

Saints and Colts. Musberger certainly had supernatural abilities.
You know what's also interesting? The 1990 season was a disaster for the N.E. Patriots going 1-15. Their one win: at Indianapolis.

So, if the Cowboys lost this game, it would have been Cardinals/Saints in the NFC Wild Card Game?

@chrisuncleahmad: Yes, it would have been.
