Pretty rare for a Brittany to live 16 years. You are to be commended (and envied) for finding a dog with good genes and giving it proper care. When they are young, they are a high energy breed and MUST get plenty of exercise or a new owner will find they can be destructive. If you don't want to exercise a young dog, don't get a Brittany. Get a lap dog or something lazy. In ALL other areas, a Brittany is FIVE STARS! I hope your Britt. is still doing well.
I love watching wiley my brittany and dakota my friends griffon naturally point birds they often see animals around the trails before we do get a brittany if you think your arm can handle 1000's and 1000's or throwing a tow for him this dog and my buddys griffon will point and retrieve for you
I give my dog three hours or so of hiking where I live in the mountains with my buddys griffon both are about 9 months and they run non stop playing come home and they still play I take him on bike rides where he gets to sprint its crazy how much energy this dog has I do love my dog except the sheading hair all over brush often and no weak brisk walks they want more than that
uhm i agree with yamahschector... my dog duke is a pure bred brittany and he would not only hold the flashlight but hed prolly show em where i hide my money lol he just protects me in a different way he doesnt bark or growl he stands between me and whatever he feels might harm me.
I agree that they are the best dogs around. However you don't need to go to a breeder. They are rescues for Brittanys, the American Brittany Rescue (ABR) and the National Brittany Rescue (NBRAN).

You couldn't have described a Brittany better. I have had one for 10 years and he is just the best.
