@shuhen2011 It runs very smoothly, most of the time. That's just the recording software as the description says. I have some occasional problems with Xorg, though.
I am excited about Gnome3...but I won't be using Unity or Gnome-shell.
they both are awkward to use by design(especially Gnome-Shell).
I use a touch interface, or my tablet ~ which both of these Shells are supposed to be designed to better interact with, yet a combination of Compiz 0.9.4 and easystroke provide a much better way of doing things.
I get tiling windows, all of those G-S/Win7 "snap-to-resize" stuff. and opening an app is 10x faster than navigating through gnome-shell to find stuff.
@triplesquarednine I can definitely see how a tablet could prove difficult to use with Gnome-Shell.
I used Compiz Fusion for a while a few months back, before switching back to plain old Metacity. I have another video on that. But I honestly really do favor Gnome-Shell over any Compiz setup I've had, which is just my personal opinion based on what I've seen.
As for navigation to find apps, I never do that anyways :P
As I said bellow, I generally always use the run dialog to open/run programs.
@4animedotme It's quite ironic how you also see the potential difficulty of using a tablet or touch interface with Gnome-shell. ~ G-S is suuposed to be designed with tablets/touch in mind. I also use run dialog sometimes, but beyond that... I actually use gestures to open apps, navigate, etc for almost everything. It is faster than run dialog, navigating menus. Then i also run DockbarX for easy access, and tabbing of apps.
Compiz requires a lot of tweaking to get it right.
That's my main problem with Gnome 3, the "jack of all trades" method. They (Gnome 3) attempted to create a desktop and tablet capable OS and ended up making both mediocre.
What they should have done is split Gnome 3 into two separate projects - GNOME PAD (Whatever), and Gnome 3d (Whatever) for desktop.
Now I understand that Gnome doesn't have the same financial abilities as Apple, but this whole thing was a bad design decision.
the only gripe i have about gnome shell is that the applications icons r too big, and i mean way too big, and customizing is more out of the way and not simple. but i do love the UI otherwise and actually like the window handling.
@archlinuxrussian Yeah, the applications section I'm kinda iffy on. They are to big like you said.
However, I don't see myself using it much at all. I run must everything with the run dialog (ALT+F2).
I personally really love how easy it is to multi-task with it. The window handling is indeed nice. I'm sure customizing will become more easy down the road also.
@4animedotme np! yeah, i will prob get used to the keyboard. and i too see more customization in the future, but it still...yeah. and have you tried the built in capturing yet? just curius how well it works.
@archlinuxrussian Give them time and you will see it will be super easy to tweak Gnome 3. Have to remember, this is just been released this year. As far as icons beng to big, there is a way to make them smaller, I dont remember how, but I know there is a way.

@orasis What a highly informative and intellectual conclusion you came up with there.
Did you make this comment because you were to stupid to figure out how to install GNOME 3?

i hate gnome 3. i wish that gnome 2 was still an option.

@Bo0Mhe4d5hOT so there is no way to install gnome 2 ?
anakin1337 8 months ago
@anakin1337 What are you talking about? Of course you can install gnome 2.

@Bo0Mhe4d5hOT
It sort of is through fall back mode. Rid yourself of 'gnome-shell' and you will find yourself in fall back mode which is Gnome-2'ish.
I have Xmonad and Gnome 2 now, I reinstalled it from an old source that I backed up just in case Gnome 3 was POS.

It seemed that Gnome-Shell isn't running smooth enough

@archlinuxrussian Actually I haven't, I didn't even know it existed until a few days ago.
I'll check that out sometime and see how it works, and possibly post a video.

Fraenza icons must be used for gnome shell otherwise with default gtk+ theme it looks ugly. Calendar is quite polished :)
