I just got the evga 470gtx sc today, you said it came with a lifetime warranty but I only got 2 years after Registration? should I called evga about this?
it can really depend on either the game itself and the qaulity of the parts being used. if you used a high end gpu with a mid range cpu the cpu would bottleneck the gpu's performance. they would still run good but if you used a high end cpu and a high end gpu together performance would increase. then you get cases where games are more dependant on one component then the other.
@Krimghor they are over voltaged a little from the factory but beyond that there isn't anything you can't do with evga precision ie core clocks, shader clocks etc.
dude set your fans up 60c idle is not good... i have 2 gtx 470's in sli as well 800core/1600shader/1900 memory and they idle around 43 max load temp gets to high 70's. with an i7 shouldnt you be scoring more than 45k? my qx9650 gets around 54k. well nice video anyway =]
Hmm, Something wrong with your cards.. They are too hot.. REAPPLY TIM.. I did that ( and added back plate) i now idle at 39c and max out at 87c.. custom fan cfg 50-70%.. Im betting on 100% i woulndnt go over 70.
@AxemastaGAMING The new cards (fermi) runs a little bit hotter than other nvidia cards. But, these cards are rated to run at a max temp of 105c. But they max out, under normal use, at 70c - 80c. During 3D Mark bench testing, they run at a blistering 95c. Yet, these high temps are normal according to nvidia.
@AxemastaGAMING Having two cards in SLI will block a bit of airflow for each card. I have a single 470GTX and it idles at around 50 degrees - which is normal. Upon load it can get up to anywhere from 60-80 degrees. Wouldn't say they are the most efficient card on the market but can't complain. Just gotta have sound higher than the fucking fan (which is very loud at 80%). At temps over 100 degrees you can really start damaging the chip.
So you where running SLi??? hmmmm... I thought 2 470's would do a lot better in vantage. My GTX 295 with B/P (oced) does 21000 in vantage. I know its a dual gpu card but two 470's put together should smoke it. Than again when my card comes to tesselation and all that, wont stand a chance against this card, but kind of a let down in my opinion to see that my 295 is almost as good as two 470's
@Techmaster05 Well, If you look at my newest video comparing one gtx 470 versus 2 gtx 470s. You'll see that my sli gtx 470 kills your gtx 295 by 3,000 points. My sli 470s tops at 24,000 points. And 3,000 is a lot. Could you get your gtx 295 to score that much?
Bragging aside, =), a gtx 295 is a pretty powerful card. And yes, it wouldn't be a huge upgrade.
holy mother of jesuss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what high temps crap shit! i order this card i live in central america its not hot but not cold also the temperature in my country is 33 CELCIOUS dam i this will run hot in my house :( i thinki had to run the fan at 100% all day long lol!
i got my GTX 470 2 weeks ago, i have it set to 700mhz and 1400 on shaders and i havent seen the core temp on 100% fan speed go over 75 C with furmark for 12 hours, but i do play games with a headset and cant hear the fans noise at all, im happy with this card and will be getting a 2nd one later in the year
@Qbite at lower fan speeds, like 40 - 45%, it stays pretty quiet. But at speeds above 50% it gets pretty loud. At 100% it sounds like a hair dryer. LOLz.
@Qbite Both cards are pretty good. And since the 5870's are going for about the same price as the 470's it's really tough to decide. But since I love nvidia, I would go with the fermi cards.
Wait a minute! Your Core clock speed is at 1.7GHz?! but the memory clock is 405Mhz and Shader clock 810Mhz? just please tell me that im not seeing this ok?
Nice score, but my crossfire 5850s has a better gpu score on this performance preset 3D mark vantage (26287). I have the score video on my channel if u wanna compare the performance. Thanx for sharing! :-D
CPU is by far not a bottleneck. I use a Core i7 920 overclocked to 3.5Ghz, and my machine still doesn't do well on MW2. If you want to game, get a Phenom and a 5970. However, I'm not a huge gamer. I'm just an enthusiast. I like to have a fast computer.
@nuclearbananaphone well sir u saying bullshit i7 920 way better for gaming thn AMDs CPU also lol 5970 ? u wonr see any different in game if u compare to GTX 470 only that u have a bit more FPS but yet it will still run as smooth as on 5970 or even GTX 480....
Wow! Look at the white door! It's so smooth, no ghosting and lagging whatsoever!
Anyways, I'm planning to get this card for my upgrade to play Crysis and other highly demanding games. Hope to see more of your games with the GTX 470.
Lisp? LOLz. Honestly, with an overclocked i7 860 at 4.0ghz, I only get maybe 5-10% increase in vantage scores. So yes, to a certain extent it does bottleneck. In this video, though, I wanted to show how the cards performed at stock speeds. Because that's what people want to know about. Thanks for the comment, it was a good point to share.
@civixboi hey, are you happy with your setup? do you ever feel like you should have gone with the 480s? im asking cause im about to squeeze the trigger, and kind of feel like what in the world would 2 480s do me if i just want to game maxed out... i dont care about benchmarking etc, just like to game with everything maxed. what do you think?
@SacredSoldier13 I am very happy. I thought the same thing before I bought these cards, but two 470's are good enough. I don't do much benchmarking either, and my game play is as smooth as silk at max settings. The only thing I got after these two cards is a 9800gt for physx.
They're great card :-) I replaced my 3xGTX280 with 2x evga GTX 470 SC's too and dispite making a little lower scores in the synthetich benchmarks, the games have higher minimum fps and overall also a better average. Nothing beats real game tests :)
@noneterry No he's running SLi. Nvidia states in the latest driver release that:
"In the case of SLI or multi-GPU PCs, the second GPU will always operate with full clock speeds; again, in order to efficiently drive multiple displays"
lol try these settings on heaven 2.0. 1920 x 1080, extreme tesselation, 4x AA and ALWAYS no less than 16x AF (it takes no performance hit on todays cards). you'll see a better balance of what the 400's are capable of sustaining.
@civixbo So if I get a single one of these, then I want a second graphics card later (To add on, not replace) what would my options be?
I am building my own PC soon, and the price is at $1,800 and that's already probably going to end up as being too much, and I'll have to cut some stuff off, or find better deals. It's my first custom build, and my first gaming PC. If not this graphics card, which one?
@c0d3w0rd Wow! $1800 would get you a really nice gaming pc. To answer your question, if get one of these and want another one later, you would have to get any brand gtx 470 to run a proper sli setup. Be sure when you're picking out the parts to your new computer, you get parts that will allow you to upgrade in the future. I will pm you with more detail.
@civixboi im no fan boy, i like ur videos, kinda getting the same build i what i am getting it for is overclocking yet nvidia makes there cards turn way to hot to do so. i might have to go with a 5870 -_-
@TheFatal05 The 5870s are also fast. I have one too and in a single card to single card comparison (gtx 470 v radeon 5870), the 5870 is way fast! But don't let the heat issues with the 400 series cards scare you. It's not as bad as everyone says it is. Just so long you have good airflow. Good luck.
@xguntherc exactly. i have my GTX 480 at 80-82% fan speed and its not really annoying until you get to 85%. but never set it automatically for the lifespan of the card's sake.
93C....almost boiling water temp....yeah...those won't be going into my case. lol. I'll keep my 5850s. Impressive scores, but I don't need anything in my case that can't keep it's cool. *2 thumbs up regardless*
