Nah this isnt the case. He just decided to invest all of his time into wintersun and had one of his drum students take his place in rotten sound. I dont think theres anything kai cant play anyway. perfections hidden definition is kai.

I'm not sure what "flying fingers" are, i've heard more made up terms with agressive music lately. Hes using his wrists, its just endurance, it goes the same with guitar and bass. Playing fast and accurately takes time, if you heard this guys demo's when he was between the ages of 16 to 18 they probably werent so hot. Just take your time when playing, i can "blast" pretty fast, its just a matter of repetition and exercise, quit looking for that special trick, they arent universal.

because he also plays jazz, and blues and basic rock and roll and that kind of stuff.. and he loves all those lationrhythms. he can play pretty much anything, so that's why he is good! :) :DD
already listened the wintersun album? that is some pretty sick drumming. although jari wrote the drums what is kinda the sickest job someone could do... playing guitars, bass, synths and programming on such an album and although write this kinda drums... love that guy XD
Jari had half the songs written since the late 90s early 2000s. and he had programmed drum tracks written on his demos. Kai just spiced them up a ton in terms of creativity for the actual CD. Jari had wintersun formed before he asked Kai to join and originally kai was only going to session drum for the album but then they became a full lineup.
And one more great fact about Kai is that no other drummer blasts with his or hers whole arms. I tried to blast like this and I got tired after 30 seconds.
The technique and the stamina that Kai has is undisputed and superb.
Hei, Kai Hahto didn't joined Wintersun for just money... Wintersun has only released ONE album, and second is now over two years late. Look, Kai Hahto is a REAL musician! He plays in Vasas state orchester, they doesn't play metal there, see. He is talented in every kind of drumming, he prolly joined Wintersun, 'cause thats very artistic band, music isn't just playing very fast and technically, it's more about the feeling, how to get wanted mood to listener. Hahto is artist, not just "drummer"!
That is fucking amazing. Any time somebody says grindcore is just a bunch of noisy shit, show them this video. This video even got my brother, somebody with a long history of zero respect for heavy metal, to admit that this drummer is a total bad ass.
I had the privilege of seeing this cat when he was in the states, and for all these progressive rock ego kooks (who probobly sit in their rooms jerking off to geddy lee's bass solos and call it "prog rock") not only is it his speed, versitility, and awesome combination of drums AND cymbals in fills that make him a great drummer, this dude has soul and straight JAM effortlessly. Mike Portnoy is just a Neil Pert wannabe with a shitty voice.

He is talented in every kind of drumming, he prolly joined Wintersun, 'cause thats very artistic band, music isn't just playing very fast and technically, it's more about the feeling, how to get wanted mood to listener. Hahto is artist, not just "drummer"!

If you listen to "Murderworks" you will find rhythmic greatness, not just blasting.
Kai Hahto is one of the few drummers that are extremely well educated in their field: Jazz, funk, classical music and of course Grindcore.

That is fucking amazing. Any time somebody says grindcore is just a bunch of noisy shit, show them this video. This video even got my brother, somebody with a long history of zero respect for heavy metal, to admit that this drummer is a total bad ass.

I had the privilege of seeing this cat when he was in the states, and for all these progressive rock ego kooks (who probobly sit in their rooms jerking off to geddy lee's bass solos and call it "prog rock") not only is it his speed, versitility, and awesome combination of drums AND cymbals in fills that make him a great drummer, this dude has soul and straight JAM effortlessly. Mike Portnoy is just a Neil Pert wannabe with a shitty voice.

@packfan5038 maybe you Like Mike Portony but i like Kai more than him maybe Mike have more skills in Fill´s or other Grooves but Kai is a good Death Metal drummer for sure ans i Like Death metal drummer´s because its not fast it´s very Good skilles i play since 2 Years Drums and my Inspiration are Death Metal drummers Because To play Like Them you must practice every day Too Build up speed and Control and it´s not Easy to play Like them You Must Practice Every Day
