The iphone isn't there yet. Iphone games lack depth. I was anticipating Infinity Blade as soon as Epic Citadel was announced. Then it came out and the game lacked depth and that open world exploration. There are some good games for Iphone but. Iphone is now way able to compete with the ds and psp well imo. Mostly because most iphone games are 5 minute time wasters, while the games that aren't lack depth, a story, and have major flaws in gameplay

I don't think it's much of a competitor to the DS/3DS....I have an iphone 4, and a DS, and play the DS more when it comes to games. Any game I get on the iPhone, I play for it for a couple minutes and then am bored to tears of it. I play DS games alot longer then I do the iPhone, and in fact, I stopped buying iphone games...just a waste of my money in the end.

the iphone could compete with platforms such as the psp, thing is that the touchscreen doesn't work too well with some games, while the psp or the ds provides pretty good control to the player. On the other hand, there's not a nearly as good market for applications, and not at all as easy to find and install new ones on anything other than the iPhone (compared to handhelds). The nearly constant internet connection also makes the iPhone a lot more attractive than it would've been without it.

I personally don't feel phone games compete with hand held, however having the phone is more convenient for me than carrying around a DS or PSP. I would never just carry around my hand held for no reason like I would my phone, and really I don't like the full touch screen for something like a diablo rpg or w/e, some stuff it works others it doesn't. If I ever know I'll be going somewhere with idle time, I will always bring my DS/PSP for something to play (over my phone).

If you buy a DS game you can get something like pokémon with about 50 hours of story mode.

If you buy an iphone game you´ll get it for like 3 % of the price, but instead its something you allways end up dying in. Like doodle jump.

The only real thing that the iphone games have to go for them is that you're almost always carrying around your cellphone, while that isn't the case for a NDS or PSP. That makes those games ideal to play when you're waiting or bored....something many people are during the day.

The problem with iPhone games is that they are .. idio-games. For me the most immersive game on the iPhone was Doom! Rage sucks because you just point where you should aim and that all, it's boring. The same goes with Infinity Blade. Sure it looks nice but that's not all! (a some time ago there was a question about the graphics/gameplay/story importance in the games)
