Mér finnst Ó Guð vors lands ekki passa við Ísland eða Íslendinga og sérstaklega eftir að mörg hundruð manns skráðu sig úr þjóðkirkjunni. Það er allavega lýsandi dæmi yfir því hve margir Íslendingar eru trúleysingjar eða annarar trúar og því ætti þjóðsöngurinn okkar ekki að lofa Kristnum Guði heldur landinu okkar.

I m half Icelandic, half French, I came many times in Iceland. What an incredible country! It s so peaceful, everytime I go there I m like in a dream. The crise caused many damages but it s nothing because Icelandic people aren't crazy. The most important is peace. If we had the same damages in France, we would have a civil war or a bloody revolution again!

why doesn't the Icelandic government change the anthem into this song? That's the most beautiful love-song and honour towards a country I've ever heard. Most national anthems are about war, this is simply a love-song to Iceland. And it was written when Iceland became independent, why don't they chose this?

the majority of Icelanders eat chicken, pork and beef. traditional foods were fish, lamb and horse but those are on the decline.

whale meat is eaten on rare occasions, and is usually done in some lame attempt to show national pride.
