@910roset actually no! it's made of polymer clay, FIMO to be specific, but a lot of people liken it to icing/cake decorating.

@montrealstars60 yes I did! the challenge is getting it dimpled all the way around without smudging all the dimples you made before!

@montrealstars60 yes! you can use a toothpick or a wooden skewer, depending on how tiny you want the dimples to be.

the hat:

the main part of the hat (dark green) was made from creating a bowl out of a small ball of clay

the print (or ribbing) on the folded part of the hat (the lighter green) was made in two steps

1. rolling out a cylinder of clay & pressing it flat

2. depressing the flat side of a metal pin into the flattened clay
