  • "I want an articulate, sensitive man...who could WHOOP DAT ASS."

That is exactly who I want, too.

  • based on what I have seen, I would not call him feminine.he is just a good guy, with strong character.

  • "HEREWEGO! HEREWEGO! HEREWEGO!"

  • OF COURSE the result was going to be feminine. They want people to talk about the conflict and juxtaposition of this macho, alpha male having a dominant feminine side. Its all about the ratings, folks.

  • Marvin Foodstamp?

    Brilliant.

  • James takes his conclusions far too deep

  • If Henry is so feminine then WHY THE HELL DOESN'T HE PLUCK THOSE INSANE CRO-MAGNON EYEBROWS!?!

  • I bet that teacher wouldn't call Henry a "Lil Faggot" if he saw him now!

  • Good stuff, is there a site where we can take this test?

  • And one of his compliments for Muhammad Ali was 'articulate'. Damn. :(

  • Two people quoted Plotinus.

  • 6:17 LOL

  • me too! wtf lol, just watched part1 and didnt have the most in common til part2

  • I'm so much like him it's scary.

  • the scale wasn't built for rollins, Muhammad Ali was a great choise though ;)

  • his dad seems like a unsecure asshole

  • Thanks for uploading this.

I don't think this is a measure of femininity, more a measure of a good human. There's more to being a man than just macho shitheadedness, as Henry states.

  • i'm so glad someone besides me hates the "lad" thing in england

  • Am i the only one who skips the psychosis parts with the boring guy?

  • The media and politics are full of these characters who enjoy being dominant, and who dabble in danger out of boredom, care for nobody but themselves. Still, Henry seems to know who he is and has dealt with it in a creative way.

  • "Bill Gates... Ehhh, he dicks around with computers too much."

  • Rollins looks SO much like Kurt Cobain when he smiles, it's unreal...

  • Is Henry Rollins masculine? Jesus, this is more like checking to see if the test works.

  • COMMANDER SHEPARD!!!

  • he looks like Commander Shepard

  • the music at the end of this is hilarious. "Rollins walking off into some rustic sunset, fade to black, and BRING IN THOSE FUNKY CREDITS!"

  • 06:00 fuck yeah, sir!

  • What a horrifying thought: Men that are born with dicks are turning into pussies, while girls who have vaginas want to be known as a chick with a dick!

  • And surprisingly, as effeminate as women are, they are territorial, aggressive, competitive, demeaning to other women (either by being challenged or feel inferior to the other women), some girls want to dominate a relationship or sexually dominate, enjoys experiencing/ experimenting what it's like to be a man, enjoys several male based/ dominated activities, all of which are MASCULINE traits.

  • Just goes to show Vietnam vets takes shit from no one!

It also shows that men have been effeminated because women get turned off by masculine men or wants women's liberal freedoms to overtake male domination in the world.

  • Drank his own piss? Really?

  • lennon was shot in the chest, not the head. He was right about him having a crazy wife, though.

  • 'At odds with public morality...'. Henry...you rule.

  • Great.

  • I am like Henry would be as a woman.

  • Warrior-Poet.

  • he's so real god im in love

  • Gandhi.........He drank his own piss....

  • The 2 people that dislike this video got punched in the mouth

  • A modern day warrior poet

  • I relate too well in that 5th minute

  • Henry Rollins is the only guy in the universe that can be more feminine than masculine, and still be more of a man than chuck norris

  • Lets see....

  • LOL

  • Great interview!! We're born a mind of clay (to be formed) All the children in our country and on our planet have been raised with the intent to be like~minded as our parents. :If you have kids, you'll do it too. However, dysfunctional surroundings cause a Mutation to socially adapt and mimic your heritage or evolve to an independent idealist which permeates through the future. That's evolution. I'm a fan. Let's evolve!!!! As fast as possible

  • @NTT0 Tell me stuff to read, give me book titles!

  • It's a stupid show. Loving kids doesn't make you less of a man.

  • @KryoWarrior I don't think being feminine makes you less - you know what, forget it....

  • gosh hes handsome

  • Henry Rollins is a legend.

  • @PunkyPenguin

Oh sorry man, I didn't realise I was being graded when I wrote a six word comment on a Youtube video. But I guess you're a psychology major who needs little things like that to validate your existence, just like the idiots who came up with this test.

  • "Bill Gates, err, he dicked around with computers too much."

  • I'm a bit disturbed that I can relate to Henry Rollins...

Maybe it's being, dare I say, old.

  • fuck these psychology tests, they're stupid

  • @ilikevines Just like someone who can't capitalize their sentence or add a period at the end.

  • whoa! this show is so cool!

  • this was brilliant. thank you

  • whose 1-7 questions are bullshit. why are they standardising the sexes like that? why can't a man be compassionate or a woman have strong personality?

  • @ghosterdude It's called freudianism, you should maybe educate yourself like our good friend Henry Rollins here.

  • @PunkyPenguin freudianism, is about analysing the little telltale signs that betray our inner neurotic impulses. nothing like those stupid questions, who are nothing but another form of sexism.

  • @ghosterdude Some feminist critics have dismissed the work of Sigmund Freud as sexist, because of his view that women are 'mutilated and must learn to accept their lack of a penis' (in Freud's terms a "deformity"). Others argue that psychoanalytic theory is vital to the feminist project and must, like other theoretical traditions, be adapted by women to free it from vestiges of sexism.

  • @ghosterdude Shulamith Firestone, in "Freudianism: The Misguided Feminism", discusses how Freudianism is almost completely accurate, with the exception of one crucial detail: everywhere that Freud writes "penis", the word should be replaced with "power".

So I guess it's safe to say that freud certainly covers sexism since it was a large part of his psychoanalysis.

Being that his findings were certainly a bit biased.

  • @ghosterdude Also the largest part of this test that shows tell-tall signs of Freud would be the sexual instincts test shown in the first part, where they show images and ask for them to be selected based on color, shape and object.

Freud was heavy into symbolism found in dreams such as the water jug representing our instinct of being thirsty.

  • @PunkyPenguin while you were busy copying out of your little book near your keyboard, you didn't notice that i was talking about the questions that rate "manliness" 1 through 7. those have nothing to do with freudianism.

  • @PunkyPenguin Karl Jung was into symbolism , Freud was a frustrated sex hungry , woman hating closeted homosexual.

  • @CheekyLad9 Jung studied with Freud, and we obviously know why Jung didn't stick around.

But that doesn't mean that both didn't study symbolism and how they related to instinctual drives.

I'm not some pro-freud freak, I do prefer Jung's take on the collective unconscious and many other studies.

I'm just stating that Freud's studies were obviously used a bit in this video, for analyzing male integrity and motives.

Also Freud's persona doesn't necessarily render all of his work incorrect.

  • @PunkyPenguin But his persona and his theories are connected. It's like asking a rapist about female sexuality, what do you think he's going to say ? Let me see... women are a piece of meat that exist to please men and shouldn't have any control over their own bodies, desires, life. Freud's dogmas were accepted back then because it was convenient for a woman hating society, to believe that dreams, ambitions and the will to control your own life is only a male characteristic.

  • @PunkyPenguin Therefore, if a woman wanted to be eg. a doctor , it's not because she was interested in medicine but she just wanted to upstage a man or she was imitating a man. I find it to be completely inaccurate and theories as such have only made acceptance of each other and ourselves more difficult.

  • @CheekyLad9 As a licensed psychologist, I agree 100%.

  • @SPQRImperator Then by all means i invite you to the debate :)

  • @CheekyLad9 I get paid to talk psych. I don't do it for free.

  • @SPQRImperator Fair enough :P

  • @Snotra Do you know who the fuck Henry Rollins is? Get out of here.

  • @sickbubblegum no... i say stay and learn.

  • @sickbubblegum Even if Henry is gay, he's still awesome in my books. I hardly think he's gay at all. But I'm saying if he was, I'd still be a big fan!

  • Henry: Portrait of a Sensitive Serial Killer

  • @joe6panther6

One of my favorite movies. There is another movie about him, too. I forget the name, maybe it was even Henry 2.

  • @FredwardAlexandru

I met Michael Rooker.. Not to brag or anything. haha

    Really nice guy.

  • this was great! thanks for the upload! seriously, where can I take the "man-test" ?? haha that sounds excellent!!

  • great interview with Henry but I question some of the conclusions the psychologist is drawing from his responses

  • "If i were a woman... I'd want an articulate sensitive man, who could whoop that ass!" Fuckin hilarious.

  • Huh... I've logged probably a hundred hours of listening to Henry do spoken word over the years and there are stories in here that I haven't heard. I appreciate that he seems to actually take this interview seriously.

  • I agree, gotta love this guy!

  • Man. Henry Rollins is a real dude. fucking champ

  • Comment removed

  • I'd like to have Henry, at my local pub, just... talking the SHIT out of one another. For ONE evening, that's all I'm asking

  • it was very interesting!! thaks a lot!!

  • Why'd he go for a Bouncing Souls song?!

  • This test is a bunch of crap. The more you dislike children and the less understanding you are-that makes you more masculin? Bull.

  • @Felixthespaz

    I agree

  • Great Score!!!!!!!!

  • WHOOP THAT ASS

  • This is the best, and most real I have ever heard Rollins. It really takes guts to let yourself be analyzed like this in public. Great job.

  • "Bill Gates............eh, he dicks around with computers too much.."

  • His father reminds me of mine. I can understand a lot of him even tho I grew up in a different time.

  • great interview

  • haha excellent!

i've never heard an american comment on the laddish football culture in england before

    at last

  • that was awesome! that's the most real I've ever seen him...love rollins

  • 6:01 Guys asking questions, here's your answer right here. Spot on Henry.

  • I knew it!

I always thought his masculinity was a mask for the vulnerability. "What about you, Dad?" "Fuck you!" "No, Dad, what about you?" "Fuck you!" "No, Dad, what about you?!" "Fuck you!" You see this is what you get in my house when you spill paint in the garage.

  • Whats the song @ 7:35

  • @ 6:01-6:51 He put into words exactly how I have always wanted to present myself to women...So i worked out, im well read, moderately educated, im a huge fan of the trancendentalist movement, i played sports, im in shape, im attractive...and im 26 and single. oh well, when the going gets rough, get rough(er).

  • @ssil08420 Sir. What you said has summed up the last 4 years of my life. 4 years ago I was depressed, out of shape, and a mess. I had the hottest girlfriend in my life at the time. Since then I've completely changed my body, my lifestyle, my finances, etc. I've always had a gift of gab, and I'm a college educated musician. I'm much more confident...However, somehow, I've lost something with women. Maybe I'm more aloof...I dunno. But well said, and good luck.

  • one of the best interviews I have ever seen. Manka6 is right, he's so human. I will always respect and look up to him. His work will always mean something to me. How many people can speak with road weary eyes in such depth about themselves with real wisdom? Very very few.

  • I've been into this guy since age 11 when a friends sister played a Black Flag record. It "damaged" me for life, in a good way. I've read most of his books, the Spin magazine stuff, listened to his spoken word records. I stoped being interested a while back. I got myself a family and a good life, but I think I'm haveing a mid-life crisis, and I want to go back to the things I liked when I was young. I liked Rollins like Rollins likes Iggy Pop. This video is the best thing I've ever seen of him.

  • 07:32.

  • this is not a man test btw. shame on you

  • THat picture is amazing at 3:34

  • How did I know he would score higher on femininity?

  • He has described my ideal man. Everybody knows women are "stronger" than men. We give birth and only infrequently do we run from our responsibilities (children). Henry might be damaged, but he's awesome.

  • @501karen Karen, hi. I want to be careful what I say here because I don't want to come off as a fan boy or copycat. However, most of my morals, struggles, outlooks, and over-arching personality parallel Mr. Rollins purely by accident. I'm 36 and didn't know who he was until 3 years ago. That said, I think where most frustration in this type of man, including myself, stem from is how to display these quality traits without the advantage of exposure that he has? Thoughts?

  • @itowedin I'm no doctor, but I think you should be true to yourself and reflect a lot on how you treat people and how you want to be perceived by others. I don't think it's "manly" to be cruel because you can be. The whole "might makes right" philosophy just seems like overcompensation for a lack of something else. Be prepared for violence, like Henry said. Masculinity, is complicated. Try not to be a dick. Learn to walk away from situations when you can avoid violence.

  • he's very deliberate in his answers though he would not want you to think that he is. he's quite clever but he's manipulative too, i don't know if this is just a vunerable defensive caginess or just fuckin clever PR. ali was manipulative too and was a segregationist who fucked over his friends unlike king, good boxer, charasmatic, noble in his vietnam war stance but a total turd

  • WOW! Great Interview, great program!

  • But, Plutonious said . . .

  • This is easily the most interesting thing I have ever seen with him.

  • im under a phychitrist (sp?) and me and him have the same views and oppinions, so i relate to him very well

    ,Michael

  • Interestingly, the assessment of the psychologist consisted almost exclusively of paraphrasing stuff that Rollins said himself before, with only little additions that were all everyday knowledge. So basically, the psychologist only repeated what Rollins said, just with other words, and added a little bit of everyday knowledge to spice it up.

Still, I liked this very personal view on Rollins, and enjoyed watching it. But the psychologist could as well have been left out, as far as I'm concerned.

  • "Marvin Food-Stamp" is my new rap name...

  • Make no mistake....there is NOTHING feminine about this man....nothing at all.

    This is a MAN.

And....MentalMania.....each and every one of us is a little fucked up in some way.

  • why mention John Lennon as one of the people to choose 2 be? -.- I hate that dude.

  • @manhuntruler2 .....what the hell is your problem? what exactly did john lennon do to you??? anything? anything at all??? so, let see....you hate someone you never met, someone who did nothing to you...and who is dead now, and has been for a long time. you need to get a grip and grow up.

  • @phantasm1004 Ur so right D:

  • hahaahahahahaha what choises do i have?

  • That final analysis sounds like a description of a typical Aquarius...

  • i'd like to do one of these tests

  • @MrJesusweeps fuk off

  • @MrJesusweeps It seems you didn't listen properly, he said that was his father's view. He was not being racist, merely sharing what growing up with a racist was like. In an open and honest interview one must accept there will be things said that one dislikes or disagrees with.

  • @MrJesusweeps ....you are a total and complete idiot. Blacks say nigger all the time. Using your "philosophy"....wrong word...for someone to be philosophical, they have to have the capacity to think. But anyway, using your example, every single black person is a racist.

  • @MrJesusweeps You said nigger. Racist pig.

  • Psychology...Not psychiatry...Know the difference. Henry is a poet. I knew him growing up . He was a smart ass. A likeable kid. Mostly a smart ass..

areally bad one. Listen to him know ?? blah blah blah blah. .'People he was no different from the rest of us.............he's turned all of this into entertainment.

all in all. Good Henry.,,,but Cachus Clay??? ----coward.

  • These things are all I ever wanted to hear Henry speak about, but never did. Until now! I love this.

  • 7:31 HA!

  • BUUUUULLLLSHEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIT "survival" rollins knocked a guys teeth out for spitting beer on him at a show. almost lost his hand to infection.

  • For pity sake, Henry - why is it that so much of what you have to offer strikes me as obnoxious, self-righteous and smug, and yet I see someone so relatable through this video? THAT bums me out, personally.

  • @happyicecream1234 you should check his "spoken word" stuff.. he is everything but those things you just mentioned, really...

  • that whole "masculine feminie test is a bunch of horse poop.. It is 100% opinion not science. *yawn* But alas, it did get him to open up.. how sweeeeeeet.

  • I love you Henry Rollins xxx

  • Henry Rollins

    Masculinity Score-67%

    Femininity Score-73%

  • He is unique, thats what makes him the star that he is, I have idiolised Henrys music for many years, and consider him very influential in my life, but (like us all) he is not perfect. thanks for everything Henry.

  • Herny Rollins is great and everything but man he's been fucked up.

He needs his own mem like the Forever Alone Guy, Henry Foverever a Trollins.

  • he's knows what women want :P

  • that was excellent, thank you so much for posting

  • I've never seen someone so human

  • fair point about ali

  • Ha! I always knew he was a skirt!

  • @ThePlutoniumBomb He's a bigger man than you'll ever be, fucker.

  • @manka6 Good come back bro.

  • @manka6 Lighten up Erkel, it was a jest

  • Thanx for uploading this.

  • Good interview but his answers using the scale really contradict the way he describes himself in his books

  • @BalloonRace How unlike himself he is.

  • @BalloonRace To be fair, this scale is not an accurate way to assess anyone or anything.

  • @HoosierMF It also reinforces a binary and oppositional notion of gender roles. I'm sorry, having a "strong personality" is not masculine nor feminine. guh.

  • Best Rollins interview ever.
